Went 90 in a U18 2-1 loss: Southend United U18s: Harry Seaden, Reiss Chandler (Sam Brogan, 81), Ide Osimeh, O’Shane Stewart, Sam Knock, Jimmy Wallace, Terrell Egbri, Jon Benton (Ahmet Biler, 81), Charlie Kelman, Matt Rush, Freddy Eastwood Jnr (Issa Mpenga, 71). Substitutes not used: Callum Taylor, Ben Dabbs. Goal: Knock (36). Cautioned: Knock (44, dissent). Kelman was given an even better opportunity in the 50th minute when Jon Benton’s slide-rule pass put him clear down the inside-right channel, but he steered his effort across the face of goal. Kelman had a goal ruled out after Seaden had initiated a counter-attack immediately following the goal, but Southend lost their attacking impetus and were fortunate, first when an attacker rolled a shot inches wide midway through the second half and then again when a Posh player rounded Seaden but inexplicably fired wide. https://www.southendunited.co.uk/ne...borough-united-u18s-2-1-southend-united-u18s/

Don't know. Even if he made a first team competitive appearance for Southend he wouldn't be in YA. I'll get him back to YAA.
Scored again over the weekend (and an assist): https://www.southendunited.co.uk/news/2018/december/afc-wimbledon-u18s-3-2-southend-united-u18s/ Southend United U18s coach Dave Huzzey pinpointed a lack of concentration as the reason for his side’s 3-2 defeat to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday morning. Blues suffered back-to-back defeats following a 4-2 reverse against Stevenage in midweek, despite taking a 2-0 lead just 16 minutes into the encounter. Leading goalscorers Matt Rush and Charlie Kelman were both on target for the visitors, but Wimbledon pulled one goal back before the break through Bobby Mills, who then went on to net the winner following substitute David Fisher’s superb equaliser. Southend have benefitted greatly from the partnership between former Bromfords School pupils Kelman and Rush, and the pair combined again for the opening goal of the game. Kelman spotted his team-mate’s run and threaded a precise pass through the defence for the second-year scholar, who held off a defender before sliding his 20th youth team goal underneath the advancing goalkeeper. Less than two minutes later the teenage Shrimpers had doubled their advantage. A hopeful ball forwards was chased down by Kelman, who bravely competed with the goalkeeper just inside the penalty area. The United States youth international won possession and steadied himself before smashing his 13th goal of the campaign past a covering defender and into the net.

From the halfway line Kelman lobs the ball over Letheren.#SOUPLY (2-3)— Southend United FC (@SUFCRootsHall) January 12, 2019
Given his very prolific scoring record at academy level, and now this, it's not crazy to say he's good enough to at least be a pool player for England youth teams of his age group, if they're interested.
That Charlie Kelman goal is right up there with the best I've ever seen any Blues player score— Chris Phillips (@CJPhillips1982) January 12, 2019 90 mins: (Charlie) "Kelman from the half way line." Shades of David Beckham as Kelman looks up and sees Kyle Letheren off his line and lobs home from the half way line and the Shrimps have a lifeline as we move into 4 minutes of added time in a game which Argyle have dominated.— BBC Sport Devon (@bbcdevonsport) January 12, 2019

Kelman has scored his first professional goal before any member of the 2001-born England U18s, including those at smaller clubs.

Charlie Kelman is the youngest ever goalscorer for #Southend United on a league debut at 17 years and 71 days old, beating a record held by John Gymer since 1984. He is our second youngest first team goalscorer of all time behind Bobby Kellard who scored when he was still only 16— Peter Miles (@PeterRMiles) January 12, 2019 I’ve witnessed many things in 23 years of supporting Southend, but watching a youth team player score from the halfway line when senior pros around him couldn’t give a crap, is a beautiful new one. Well done Charlie Kelman.— Andrew Soul (@Andrew_Shrimper) January 12, 2019
And this thread won’t be complete until someone says . . . CAP HIM NOW!!!! I don’t think we should, but I do hope he keeps rising and remembers who loved him first.
No call to cap him for the senior team but no reason not to call him in for his age group. He should be at the current cap excepting that he's actually playing professionally which is more important. I'd think with so many prospects in Europe now the Fed needs to add camps there in appropriate times of the year since they can't make the ones the US / MLS kids can make.
