I want 7, one for each day of the week. Why not right? I really like the design, I do agree though that 'We got the cup' means more to me as a supporter than something as generic as 'we won'.
How about "Where's your cup?" I'd love wearing that scarf to Colorado games. "We Won!" sounds like someone was surprised. Like it was designed by all the naysayers who were thinking "Holy *&%! they won! How'd that happen?"
I like the "salt lake til i die" but it feels kind of like we would be copying cbus (who copied another team who another team, i know). "Real Salt Lake" on the red side "Ole, ole ole ole" on the blue Instead of the "ReAL" on the ends, maybe thats where they could put "2009 MLS Cup Champions"... Just my spin, I would buy that one as is
I'd argue that the Championship should be a bigger component of the scarf, since that's what this particular scarf is intended to celebrate. Your phrase choices would make a fine scarf, but the commemoration of our historic victory would feel like an afterthought.
good point, I am just thinking more long term I guess. For this next season, surely we have to have one (besides the one with the tiny crest that is already made) that celebrates that victory. Los Campeones?
I like 'Los Campeones' but I think we'd have a much smaller market of people who want the scarf if it's in Spanish. Ironic, though, since "Real" is Spanish.
Yeah, but you don't commemorate your doubts and weaknesses with a scarf. That would be like making a scarf that says, "Wingert and Russell: The best we can do for now." or "The best under .500 team ever!"
Actually, I agree with georg and Christoph. I think the best suggestion so far is: I think that's good enough to put to a vote. It has been moved and seconded. All in favor?
Now Wamba's talking trash, Zion's Lion's on the Scarf?? Wow let me think aboout that one? Zion the Lion? Very Sobering thoughts!!
The question is whether the league has a problem with "Champions" or "MLS Cup Champions" being the big phrase on one side of the scarf, since Ruffneck needs league approval on the design. Has someone already asked them, or should I shoot them an email? Also, if "2009 MLS CUP CHAMPIONS" is too long to look good on the scarf, we could put CHAMPIONS bigger and "2009 MLS CUP" in the smaller font under it. I'd buy it either way, but I might slightly prefer a traditional "Real Salt Lake" to "Royal Army" on this one (which isn't to say I don't want a "Royal Army" scarf as well ). Also 15 to 32, be sure to post your non-Championship scarf ideas the other thread about Ruffneck scarves in general (if you haven't already).
I think 2 scarves should be made. i like the royal army idea, but not for the championship scarf. I would so much rather have just the traditional red 'Real Salt Lake' on one side and blue '2009 MLS Champions' (or just 2009 Champions if that is all that can get approved) on the other. Maybe the RSL crest on each end of the one side, and a picture of the trophy on each end of the champions side. something basic but that would really appeal to everyone. then go nuts on the royal army scarf.
Copying Cbus?????? You need to take a stroll over to the part of the stands where the fans sing sometime, because we've been singing that one since 2005. "Real Salt Lake" on the red side "Champions" on the blue, with "2009 MLS CUP" underneath in smaller letters. The word you are searching for is Aye. It's an archaic term that means "yes." It would be the opposite of the word "nay". Oh, and for whoever it was that was suggesting we put "Zion's Lion's" on the scarf, before you try to get any steam behind that idea, make sure you got your grammar right. An apostrophe is not for pluralization of words. The last thing I want is a scarf with grammatical errors on it.
Definitely agree about a separate RA scarf, as mentioned a few posts up. But either way I'll be happy about it not being black, white and green with an iron-on crest.
Thanks for all the feedback! We're going to revise the design to: Red side: "Royal Army" Blue side: "MLS Cup Champions 2009" I'm pretty sure we'll get approval from the league. We'll get it into production shortly. Cheers, Jeff
