Patrick's experience this season as the #2 can hopefully land him another good job at home or abroad. He's young and has a whole career ahead of him. Something will pop up. MLS is kinda set with GK's. Maybe a good USL job will open up. If not abroad is the way to go.

It says in the article that he is in the states. I'm sure He'll get picked up in MLS, some backups are not set.

Well he does live here and it is the offseason. ;) That doesn't mean he'll sign here. I agree MLS backups are not set but he'll probably make more being a backup abroad or trying to find a starting gig in the USL. That is if there is any starting gigs open in the USL.

FWIW, DC United's starter is not really set. Louis Crayton's contract expires mid-summer, and I'm not thinking they're going to renew it.

You'd think it might, but sometimes rules are different for players abroad.

After Anderlecht broke the European record for consecutive CL defeats, there is little more embarrassment left the league has to worry about. :p

I guess leaving school early didn't turn out as well for him as hoped.

He's going down that Lane again:

DEAN Thomas may have been given time off from barking out orders on matchday due to the wintry weather but the Hinckley United manager has certainly been pulling the strings off the field in the meantime.

    ...

At the other end of the pitch, the manager hopes to wrap up the signatures of 23-year-old American goalkeeper Pat Lane from Leicester City, who spent last season plying his trade in Major League Soccer, and centre back Haydn Hollis from League One side Notts County.

I believe this is the sixth division.

Indeed, it appears he was at LCFC in at last some form as recently as December:

Happened to come across this (somewhat older) story today:

After attending Brad Friedel's Premier Soccer Academy for his sophomore year of high school, he had been invited to train with the Belgian soccer club Cercle Brugge for a year. That year was coming to a close, and Cercle Brugge wanted Lubahn to stay and play professionally for them as a winger. Lubahn loved the high level of play at the club, loved his Belgian host family, the Couliers, and loved riding around the city of Bruges on his black moped. He was all set to accept the offer.

Then the Cercle Brugge player who played Lubahn's same position, who was the first-team version of him, got hurt. Lubahn doesn't remember the player's name, but he does remember that the player was not much older than he was, in his mid-20s. The injury led to a third knee surgery; his soccer career was over.

The situation signaled to Lubahn how quickly things could change in the business of professional sport.
