You have a link of Diego Mejia rumor on Railhawks, because the guy hasn't played in forever. He was great but is nothing now, how could he go abroad?

 

I don't know what's going on with that. It was reported in a couple of articles awhile ago, but i haven't heard anything new recently. So it could just have been a rumor

All i know is that he's been living in the States for the past couple of years now. I don't know if he's been keeping active since his playing days in ES, but hopefully he has and can get back into the national team. Who knows what will happen. I guess time will tell.

This guy is really good, so fast and agile. I hope he gets the job at Wigan. It would be great for Honduras!

La Tribuna claims Wigan will present Maynor Figueroa as their new signing today, but nothing has been announced by Wigan yet. Although it is certainly a possibility...it seems to be very lazy reporting by La Tribuna. Usually they are one of the better papers out of Honduras.

The rumours i hear is that Figueroa will sign on loan until the end of the season and Palacios will sign permanently for 3 and a half years in the next few days.

 

Palacios just signed with Wigan for 3 1/2 years. Figueroa is waiting for Olimpia's pass.

 

Link? I believe this will happen, if it hasn't already. But I have not seen any official announcement of the signing by Wigan.

 

Steve Goff, washington post, is reporting that Honduran-born Alex Bonilla and Victor Ramirez, whose parents are from El Salvador have been invited to D.C. United invitation-only combine.

Wilson Palacios deja el Birmingham y pasa al Wigam.
Redacción. Wigam tiene un Nuevo mago. Al “Latics” llega la hechicería futbolística y el encanto catracho del balón de Wilson Palacios quien fue fichado esta mañana por el equipo del DT Steve Bruce.

Los llamados “Latics” oficializaron la contratación de Palacios hoy lunes 07 de enero de 2008, por tres años y medio.

Después de pasar por el Arsenal y luego al Birmingham City por recomendación del entrenador Arsene Wenger a Steve Bruce; el chico hondureño se mueve junto al DT en busca de una misión: salvar la categoría del Wigam.

El pase de Palacios entre los clubes fue por un millón de libras esterlinas ó 1,971,647.74 dólares expresado de otra forma ( lempiras 37,244,424.59).

El Mago ahora se enfundará la camisa del Wigam, después de tener una relativa participación en los “Blues” que ahora dirige el escocés Alex McLish.

Es el primer fichaje de Bruce en el año y a él se puede sumar el también catracho Maynor Alexis Figueroa, quien cuenta ya con el aval del entrenador para que firme contrato, pues actualmente el defensor se mantiene entrenando con el equipo.

La posición de Olimpia se define esta noche. En caso que la dirigencia del Albo acepte el traspaso, Figueroa estaría a prueba seis meses, lo que le bastaría para terminar la presente temporada de la Premier League.

En su momento Bruce manifestó que: “Estaría loco si no lo dejo en el equipo a Palacios” y hoy en día lo ha llevado con él al Wigam, con lo que confirma la confianza que tiene en el jugador.

Bruce declaró hoy que el Wigam está tratando de salir de una difícil posición: “tratamos de sobrevivir en la Liga y si llegan dos o tres jugadores para ayudar, ni cosa mejor”.

En la actualidad el Wigan Athletic FC marcha en la posición 16 con 21 partidos jugados; 4 ganados; 5 empatados; 12 perdidos; 21 goles a favor y 37en contra para 17 unidades.

Su próximo partido es ante el Derby County en el Pride Park, el sábado 12 del presente a las 10:00 a.m.

Palacios podría debutar tan pronto como renueve su permiso de trabajo con el Wigam y Figueroa tan pronto como la directiva del Olimpia lo ceda en préstamo.

ok, thanks. I had seen the Honduran reports, but Wigan had not announced anything via website (which tends to go along with a press conference) or in the press. Given the suspect reporting in Honduras...i questioned the accuracy. Regardless, it seems the deal is done.

 

i find it a bit strange that Maynor and Palacios signings have not been formally announced by Wigan, NOT honduran press. Bureaucratic issues or personal terms must be keeping them from officially becoming Wigan players. Hopefully they sign soon so they can get games in. Anyone know if Palacios is training with Wigan? I know Maynor is...

 

Not sure if Palacios is traing with us actually.

Our local newspaper, who are normally pretty reliable, say that the hold up with Palacios is because of some paperwork that his club in Honduras are yet to return to us.

 

Thanks. Although things look good for Palacios moving to Wigan, it seems Steve Bruce is also weighing in other possible signings, see link. I expect to see Palacios move confirmed but it seems far from a certainty based on Bruce's comments, see link. But if i were to bet I would say Palacios is a Wigan player sometime next week.

I just heard intheHonduran radio HRN that Hendrick thomas (Olimpia) is going to Tolouse FC in France. Apparently is was confirmed by Ferrari.

Henry Suazo viaja hoy hacia Suiza


SAN PEDRO SULA. El jugador Henry Geovany, hermano del atacante del Inter de Milán Oscar David Suazo, se marcha hoy hacia Suiza con la idea de finiquitar contrato con el club Lucano de la primera división. El delantero, quien militó en el Marathon el año pasado, hace varias semanas atrás realizó una prueba con dicho club y al parecer convenció, pero debido a la situación complicada en que estaba la institución, especialmente con el técnico anterior, desistieron de contratarlo. Rubén Suazo, hermano de Henry, explicó que hay muchas posibilidades que puede estampar su firma en cuanto llegue a Suiza y ser de la partida en lo que resta del campeonato.

By my counts there are 12 in Europe.

In China's Super-League there are 5.
MLS 4.
Uruguay 2 or 3.

And of course those scattered in smaller foreign leagues.

Also, this means nothing but that we have players getting paid in a wide range of currencies--however, we've always had that and underperformed Internationally (ala England). Given the aura surrounding La-H this time around though, I predict, and believe they will not under-perform.
