his wages aren't as big a sticking point due to the fact that he's a free agent so a larger signing on bonus would be added to make up for the wages shortfall. a figure of £2mill signing on fee was mentioned in the July post.

i think the main sticking point is the one we have no control over. namely, playing in the SPL.

Basa has signed for Lokomotiv Moscow today so it's definitely finished for sure now.

    you have a point.

well we don't need to worry about him anymore seeing as he's signed for your Arsenal. :p

as we continue to search for defensive starters and cover(wheres the LB guys!?!) it seems that Alexander Madlung of Vfl Wolfsburg is our next step on the CB train.

Celtic are in talks with German side Wolfsburg for the signing of International defender, Alexander Madlung to Parkhead and it seems that the player is interested in the move. Although valued at around €5 million by his club, Celtic will aim to lower the transfer fee and negotiations are still ongoing.

Maloney will be back for a second stint very shortly. hopefully he grabs this second opportunity and makes the most of it. rumoured to be around £1mill for the transfer.

    ------

sad to say that Evander Sno has been sold to Ajax. i still fully believe this lad has what it takes to be an outstanding footballer. i sincerely hope PL has included a sell on clause as part of the deal.

I'm sad as well to see such a talent leave the Celtic Park. :(
Good luck for the future, Evander!

At least Shaun will be back soon. *happy*

it took a long time coming, mainly due to MoN reluctance to part with him but Shaun Maloney has returned to Paradise.

he'll certainly offer us more invention and attacking sharpness.

some interesting rumours kicking around today. main one being that we're still seriously considering Razvan Rat, even though he's cup tied in Europe until January. apparently Rat wants to come to us as well.

there seems to be a reasonable chance that Alexander Madlung could arrive at Paradise before the window closes as well.

less than 10 days to go until we find out. will we get Bobo out the door? Killen and Riordan to the championship?

    we'll soon see.

I gotta admit, I have never been a huge fan
    of Gordon Strachan.

    I wish I knew...maybe if I saw more
Celtic interviews, especially with him or got
to know more about him, I would??

    Here are some hilarious clips
    of interviews with Gordon Strachan:

According to "Kicker", Celtic is still interested in defender Alexander Madlung from VfL Wolfsburg.

    http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/2767/alexandermadlung/profil.html

Can you confirm this, Fraser? Do we really look for another CB after we've just signed that guy from Cardiff?

Well, Alex is the complete "antipole" to the Dutchman ... physically very strong and impregnable in the air (he's also known for scoring lots of header goals from set pieces), but a little bit limited on the ground. Magath wants € 4.5 million for him ... but according to "transfermarkt.de", his value is 'only' € 3 million.

we are interested in Madlung and it would seem he was flying to Glasgow today for talks but a sticking point would be the fee as its rumoured we wouldn't be interested in him at 4.5mill euros.

I wouldn't spend that amount on him either (especially, since Golfsburg have enough cash). Well, let's see whether an EPL club is willing to do that...

possibly, but what if he returns and is not the same player he was...?

would that then sour the sweet memories that we all have of him?

i don't know which way to lean with this one.

didn't he have a positive influence at man utd last season during that short, month-long loan?

yep. but that was almost a year ago. another season on at Henrik's age could make a difference, especially with the physical nature of the SPL.

if he came back i'd still worship him but if he didn't hit the highs of his previous time here then i'm sure it would sour some poeples memories of him.

    Doesn't matter. ;)

Let him finish his career at Celtic Park and give him the manager job later on.
