Being down to 10 men against a decent, confident, at home Aberdeen does not help either! As much as it hurts to see, both, the unbeaten and clean sheet streaks end.....it is a good thing for the Scottish game with the resurgance of Aberdeen. They have the potential to be, again, the 3rd big team in Scotland and watching them from a distance this year has been very pleasing.
Very true. But I still feel that's as much Ambrose's fault as it is Thomson's. Ambrose played the woeful pass that put Van Dyke into trouble. He (Ambrose) is trying to provide cover but I do think it is still a clear goal scoring opportunity if VVD doesn't commit the foul.
Hi, I have a question that has nothing to do with Celtic but with The Scottish Premier League. Since when the SPL Golden Boot award exists ? There might have been another award but i am asking about the golden boot. Tried with google but couldn't find the answer. The only info I found dates back to 2008-09. Thanks in advance and sorry for the off topic but there is no point making another thread just for this specific question.
The SPL doesn't have a Golden boot. You can find the SPL top goalscorer easily enough but there isn't, to my knowledge, any individual award for top goalscorer in Scotland other than the recognition of it.
Wrong. I have seen pictures of Gary Hooper, Kenny Miller and Michael Higdon posing with their golden boots. It has the Clydesdale Bank logo.
http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2013/05/21/higdon-scoops-golden-boot-award/ it is not entirely clear to me what you are asking though. According to the Daily Record, the trophy still exists: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/st-johnstone-ace-stevie-sets-3053226
Fair enough. I've never seen them posing with a Golden Boot and I've never heard anyone talking in any sort of detail about it. Even in Glasgow the topic of the SPL Golden Boot doesn't have much, if any, mileage.
Title wrapped up with 7 games to spare (I think). Pity about the performances in both domestic cup competitions. Still room for improvement but always delighted to win the title.
Neil Lennons reign at the Scottish champions is over. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...enrik-Larsson-replacing-Parkhead-slashed.html So long Neil, and thanks for all you have done at the club. Larsson seemingly bookies favourite. Plenty of other names being banded around such as Mackay, Lambert, McNamara etc. Just no to Owen Coyle please.
Moyse's name also bandied about.......the fight in the wine bar may have been staged to up his credibility as a Lennon successor.
doesnt it really matter what manager you have ? not to sound mean or anything but you could have a traffic cone for a coach and still win the SPL....
At least until Rangers get back into SPFL Premiership, success will be measured in terms of how far the club progress in the Champions League.....there are reports out there that Lenny left because he doubted the current squad could get through the 3 rounds of qualifying to even get to the group stages and that funds to strengthen were going to be hard to pry from the board.
Will rangers even be the threat they used to be ? Hope the SPL gets some outside investors or perhaps works something out with the EPL.
Depends if they can sort out their current financial mess....but the presumption is that once they get back they can attract investment and grow to a competitive club again. But, yes, it is probably a few years (at least) before they are a true domestic threat to Celtic.
I've heard that as well. I don't know if that is true or not but I'm quite excited to find out who will take over from NL.
Was that a surprising move in your eyes, Fraser? Anyway, thanks to Lenny for some great moments during his reign and good luck for the future. So a former darling would be getting replaced by another. Really curious whether the rumours get true.
"Bring on the Hibs, the Hearts, the Rangers......." Well that song has no meaning next season......none at all!
Amido Balde? Very raw. I sometimes think there could be some potential there then, at other times, I look and think I have no idea as to why we signed him. Need to give him at least until January next season before forming a more precise opinion.
