I really doubt McFadden would be open to a move back north this early in his career, for all you can argue about the size of Celtic, the overall standard of domestic football here is simply too unappealing. It really would be a step down for him and I'd much rather he either stayed in England or made a move to the continent.
Surely actually playing would be a step up...as a striker I think he'd still be third at Celtic. We've all seen what he is capable of for Scotland, but he just doesn't seem to have a niche in most systems for whatever reason.
strachan may value him as playing a wide role on the opposite flank to mcgeady. then nakamura would have to be fitted in somehow. mcdonald is first choice with hesselink at the minute but a lot of supporters patience are starting to wear thin with the lacklustre displays the big dutchman has been putting in. although i'm not sure if a mcfadden/mcdonald combo would be workable.
I think GS would have to find a way to play McFadden behind the strikers. McDonald has been unstoppable this season. I'm not the biggest fan of JVoH, but I don't see him benched without a better target man signed.
before we even think about any other positions we need to sign a LB to either battle it out with naylor or take over the position altogether. the guy on the right will fit the bill nicely ...
faddy's wage demands would be about £20k/week apparently. if celtic offload one or two players in the window then there'll be plenty of room to absorb his salary if he were to sign but i sincerely hope we're looking for a LB first and foremost. nice to see willie mckay stirring it as usual..
