Okay, well you know how in Glasgow there are Rangers who were founded on Protestant roots and Celtic who were founded on Catholic roots. I'm not sure if that's as important today as it was 100 years ago, but I was curious as to whether anyone knew of any English teams founded by Catholic roots. I know it's not a predominant denomination in England, so it may be doubtful, but I was just curious. Thanks
No, thankfully sectarianism is at a minimum this side of the border. God knows what it'd be like if there was an English old firm, say on Indian/Pakistani grounds, or Muslim/Jewish. Keep that stuff out of football I say.
Im glad this point was raised cos if you ask any Rangers or Celtic fan which is the biggest derby game,They will say the old firm,But its a load of rubbish,The old firm game has absolutely nothing to do with football,Its supporters of two different belief systems,And therefore should in no way be considered in any list of biggest derby games.Take the religion away from the two clubs and your left with nothing.
NOTHING!!! Celtic: 41 league champ 1 euro 34 cups Rangers:51 league champ (more then any other team in history) 31 cups your just wrong.
I totally agree why would the two biggest club in a country who almost always finish 1, 2 in the standing and have both massive fan base ever be considered a big derby....
