Let's get some silverware. losing Matic is a blow, Jose can work around it though. But we all know this will be a tough one.
I hope we learned a lot from our previous encounter with them. Mou knows what to do So let's see the team can make it happen.
As my Spurs supporting mate reminds me often, we've never beaten them in a Cup Final of any kind. Time to write some new history. However, I am prepared for a lot of negative media coverage the day of and day after the match as their fans will 100% try to goad ours into a reaction. If there is any coming together there is zero chance that anyone but our support will be blamed so I hope our fans are triply cautious and don't get into any bother with the police or other supporters. Possibly the worst timing for this match given the recent coverage and our specific history with Spurs (and unfortunately I fully expect there to be lots of hissing at their fans around the ground, I just hope we can self-police and understand that even that simple gesture is vile and unnecessary). I want to be able to talk about the football after this one, not the bollocks that happens off the pitch.
Is it on a TV station that real people have? Or can I use this as an excuse to go to a pub? Unrelated: what is the fallout if Jose doesn't win anything this season?
Followup - its on bein. So that's awful. Spurs playing Fiorentina today. Big advantage for us. usually t'other way around.
i don't really like entertaining the question but for me, trophy or not, jose stays. it's not like we've been stagnant and haven't seen improvement in the overall shape and play of the squad. not like other managers. i also can't think of anyone i'd rather have as manager realistically either. while i think that Roman is a little past the instant success needing trophies every year, i also think that in the past there has also been a shiny new manager that he thought could do better. i don't think either of those apply as strongly now.
yea, not really happy with this being entertained. would rather have some stability for once, odd trophy here and there for sure. but i'm willing to forego silverware for a couple of years to build something solid for the next decade. and like i said, who else would be in the picture?
Fans like stability. The press does, too. But statistically, we've been wildly successful no matter who our manager is over the past decade. I personally dont think Jose is going anywhere.
yea, i don't think we really disagree, i think you were just proposing the question. but i also think that success was in spite of not because of the managerial changes. we had a very strong core group of world class players that got us through a lot of that, and they were given their winning mentality by one of those managers and reinforced by a couple of other good winning managers along the way. but the model wasn't sustainable, especially as the squad rolls over into the next generation. i would also argue the press loves drama. especially chelsea drama.
Without Matic and Jose predictably starting Ram in the pivot this is going to be tough. Hopefully Zouma gets the start as we will need his pace and need monster games from some underperformers of late (Cesc, Oscar, Costa).

Do we think Cuadrado starts this one? Have we liked him since he joined? He's been OK. It sure has lit something under Willian, though. I think we will see this: Courtois, Ivan, Cahill, Terry, Az, Ramires, Fab, Willian, Hazard, Oscar, Costa Let's please put Spurs in their place.
Spurs were dangerous against Fiortentina this week but they have massive defensive frailties that can expose them, i.e., Vertonghen and Chiriches. If Mohamed Salah could terrorize their centerbacks so bad, imagine Hazard going at them if he's in the mood
Zouma for me, too. I was just guessing at what Jose would put out there. Of course, its all about the feeling he gets from the guys during the week of training. Despite what he says, some guys places are carved out in stone. Ivan, Terry, Costa, Fab, Hazard, Matic will always be selected when available.
Mr. Wembley one final time... that left-footed beaut against Spurs about three years ago or the free-kick against Portsmouth five years ago will always be amongst my fondest memories of Drogba.
Anybody know if the game is on in Canada? Assuming bein. Or know of pubs that may have it on in the vancouver bc area?
