http://us.soccerway.com/players/olivier-occean/7782/ has his statistics, but I don't know if he's the top scoring Canadian in Europe. I remember somebody posted a link to a big list of Canadians abroad. Maybe you can find it if you search this topic.

Molde has won three of the last five Norwegian titles. They are 97th in the UEFA club coefficients with a 20.350, and any club from Spain (the top league) that hadn't been in UEFA competition in the last five seasons would be given a higher coefficient than Molde. Lazio, who is in a much better league, is 27th with a 63.087, and Lazio had a higher coefficient in 2012-2013 than Molde had for the last five seasons combined. I think the coach of one of the best national teams would rather have his players play for Lazio than for Molde, but Canada isn't one of the best national teams.

Setting aside the notion that a national team manager has any say/influence in where a player plays.....would your statement not be dependent on what the status of the player at the respective clubs.

If Lazio signed larin and he sat and never played....as a national team manager I might think, "I wish he signed for Molde where he would play under a decent manager and play in a decent league and sometimes even the champions league"

He's still a starter at Besiktas and he's going to play in the Champions League next year. If you're referring to that rumour about West Ham, I don't think there's any merit to it.

I do wonder . CL with a chance to fight another title vs playing in the PL (higher wages) for a mid-tier club

At 33, this might be his last payday.

I should've said "big payday." Sure, he could come to MLS one day but I doubt he could get whatever West Ham might hypothetically pay him.

    1. I didn't mean to say that a national team manager controls what clubs players play for. I meant that when a top national team manager selects players, all other things being equal the manager would choose a player for Lazio over a player for Molde.
    2. The status at the club does matter. I guess I should have referred to something like "equal playing time at Lazio or at Molde."

I referred to the status of the player....not the club.

I know. When I typed that I meant "the status of the player at the club." I should have typed more words.

probably wouldn't even get more than 500 K though maybe several of the Canadian clubs might offer him a cool million.

has he been the Canadian with the most years playing abroad now?

Wondering how much pitch time Hutch could secure in the Premiership.

No doubt Henry is hoping for this.

with West Ham reinforcing their squad and may try a run for both the PL and EL, he should have lots of opportunities.

I look at the Dutch team now - it's terrible - and I look at where De Guzman is.....Napoli reject and loaned to Chievo. I wonder if he wishes he chose Canada now? Does not do us any good I know.....just frustration.
