YES!!!! I didn't wanted to participate in this debate cause I am a lil bit superstitious....now I have tears in my eyes thanks to everybody who made it come true! In 2019 women football will be massive in France so I have no doubt our World cup will be a success. VIVE LA FRANCE!
Or maybe I could just look at FIFA's official news release... I don't know if the FIFA ExCo does the same selection method for Women's World Cups as it does for Men's World Cups, but for the men, the 24 ExCo members do an exhaustive ballot system. Technically speaking, they need an official vote to reward a WC, but for the 2002 Men's World Cup (incidentally co-hosted by S.Korea) the vote was "by acclimation". On one hand, the unanimous part looks a tad suspicious... On the other hand, there are no non-Asian candidates currently vying for 2023, so S.Korea may have been fighting fate from the start.
I think you have me confused, there's someone else who stops by now and then who calls bs on the bid processes. I think this is fantastic and am looking forward to it already. I imagine South Korea isn't feeling that way right now but they'll get their turn. We had to lose out to win too. This could also really raise the profile of the sport in the country and draw more girls and quality athletes into the game which would be another big win. And given the great French youth teams and their transitioning to older teams, this couldn't come at a better time.
I hope to be as well, after Canada this summer. Speaking of which, perhaps after poutine this summer it was as simple as Frogs Before Dogs? ;>) No offense intended (strictly comedic intent), apologies if any taken ...
I guess I'll be there in France too (although, hey, 2019 is 4 years away! It's quite early to make decisions, many things can change in my life in 4 years! ). Anyway, i don't think I'll ever get a WWC closer to home than this and I don't want to miss it for sure.
does the breakdown of qualifying berths differ at all for the 2019 WWC? Hosts(1): France UEFA: 8 AFC: 5 CONCACAF: 3.5 CONMEBOL: 2.5 CAF: 3 OFC: 1
Wait, where does it say anything about the stadiums? Do we know what cities are involved yet? I imagine Lyon and Paris are no brainers, but I imagine there's plenty of options.
Everything is here 11 cities pre-selected : Auxerre, Grenoble, Le Havre, Nancy, Paris, Nice, Rennes, Reims, Montpellier, valenciennes
At first I was a bit worried to see only three stadiums with over 30k capacity and only one over 35k, but then I went and looked back at the 2011 attendance figures and I'm not worried anymore - France's six stadiums with over 25k will be fine.
Really disappointing to not see Bordeaux and it's new stadium listed. I guess it's to be expected, though, since they don't have a women's team.
It looks like the final 9 stadium selected for the tournament will be revealed very soon . From the QF all the games will be played in 25k + stadiums
I didnt like the selection for euro 2016 so Im hoping they do a better job there. Cause Im probably going there.
kind of a pity not to see Le Mans there since despite having no club of their own they've got a nice park and haveshown their support of the women's game with good crowds for the NT. and a nicer town for tourism than half those on the list imo. btw, you say 9? because lyon is already known? the total will be 10 venues i think?
Approval of the slot allocation and tournament dates on the next FIFA council meeting 13th and 14th of October.
Well I was wrong in my March post, the selected cities and stadium will be announced only next Spring, no rush from the FFF At the moment, only the Parc OL in Decines and the Roazhon Park in Rennes are confirmed. 8 more stadiums to be selected.
