Correct - if I recall correctly, his most expensive transfer was Eto'o, who costed between 20m-30m euros.

Yes but it is all largely meaningless because Ibra was effectively sold for around 75m+

That bizarre deal completely skews the gross and net spend

I wonder what book value Etoo was given in that deal

or was he just a free transfer?

transfermarkt has it at 20m but clearly that is far below his market price

This says it better than I could. Ritz- sorry, but Inter spent like crazy. Real spent like crazy. Chelsea spends like crazy.

Inter didn't spend like crazy compared to the other 2 clubs in the 2 seasons Mourinho was their coach though.

Winning the Italian title wasn't maybe impressive, but the CL definitely was.

not sure what debts accumulated over a few decades and overpaid veterans already on the books has to do with two seasons of mourinho and a 32 net spend during his time.

They already had an engorged squad

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007–08_F.C._Internazionale_Milano_season

Jose cut out all the shit for them and they turned Ibra in to Eto'o plus 46m

So they had a fab team without a bit netspend but huge payroll.

This was not done on the cheap. But they had good assets and traded very wisely.

the likes of arsene wenger didn't exactly have a weak squad either though. consider how much cesc, nasri, and van persie were worth.

Valencia concede a goal after being 3-0 ahead and Sevilla goes to the final.

    Sigh

They spent 94.200.000 € plus numerous undisclosed deals and part funded by players out.

But they got back in 108,600,000 - largely by selling Ibra for 70m or whatever the 'real' number was.

So combined with a mega payroll, you can see that the squad was not cheaply assembled.

But it was very cleverly done - and also opportunistically.

A wage bill of 205 M - 104 % wage / turnover ratio. These numbers speak for themselves.

I turned on the TV tonite and there was Valencia-Sevilla being re-aired. I saw it was in the 55' and 2-2 on aggs and I thought to myself hmm this could be worth watching the end. Just a gut feeling. And boy was that a good idea. Well done Sevilla to not give up... in the 94th min!
