One more random question. I already know about League 1 Ontario and PLSQ. I heard rumours about other similar leagues getting set up in BC and Alberta, has anyone else?

According to some math from a fellow Voyageurs, seems like FC Edmonton might have already sold out 70% of available seats as season tickets.
^ That would be really good for them as it is already higher than the 3374 average for their last (and best) season in the NASL.
I'm not sure you sell season tickets because of rivalries but the Canadian opponents will help. I'm guessing the overall profile of the league is helping more - the fact that the CPL has gotten more mention in Canadian sports news before playing a game than the USL ever has despite being around for years.
On a CPLish note: TFC has declined the option on the contract for Tosaint Ricketts and has not renewed the contract of Jordan Hamilton. At 31, Ricketts would make a good veteran presence on a CPL team (maybe his home town of Edmonton?) while, at 22, Hamilton would be a great fit for striker. Ricketts earned about $200 k last year and Hamilton about $100k. Without salary cap info on the CPL we can't know how that would fit it but I suspect that Ricketts anyway would be looking at a pay cut.
Both players are probably looking at a pay cut wherever they end up playing. I don’t think the CPL will be paying any of these two players anything over 100000 I could see maybe 60000 each for both .
It depends on what the salary cap ends up being. I've seen numbers anywhere from $1 million to $2.5 million. At the bottom end, yes, they'd both take a pay cut. At the top end the average would be about $100 k per player and I'd expect both to be above average players in the CPL.
If the claim that they need to only average 5k fans a game to break even is accurate, I suspect the lower end of the cap is more accurate.
An interview with the soon to be co-owner of the CPL Laval club (Montreal Area), gave more insights on the league: Laval will join CPL for 2020 Around ~6000 fans on average are needed for teams to break evens. This excludes merchandise, sponsorships or other forms of revenues according to him, would be "extra" for the club CPL will be in "1.0" mode up until around the 2026 World Cup. Modest salaries, expenses and infrastructure while the league grows. If a success, CPL will go "2.0" with upgraded infrastructure, salaries and others. This would coincide with the league reaching 16 clubs and starting D2. Looking at the signings and rumors so far, the league is going young and at market value. They are unlikely to overpay for players. As much as I like Ricketts, I can't see the league paying him what he might be looking for. Hamilton would be worth paying extra due to his age. Edmonton could however transition him into a players/coach type of deal since he's from there and his career is near it's

I heard he's playing for free so they can save salary cap space but he'll be reimbursed for singing the anthem before each home game.
