My daddy always told me not to feed the strays, otherwise they will keep hanging around the house.

Oh come on, behave. I give her credit. Lots of folks claimed they would move to Canada if Reagan, Bush or Bush won, and she is the only one who did.

In any event, reading about her experience on the BBC, I am now glad my interview was canceled.

That's because the others were too rich and famous.

I personally think it's pathetic. Was there an exodus during the Clinton years? No, we just pulled our hair out and life goes on.

In fairness though, Laura said she was leaving no matter who won in 2004. SHe wanted to move to Canada. I say great for her. Several years ago, my wife and I considered moving for a while to Switzerland. Not because we wanted to be Swiss, but because we love Zurich and thought it would be fun to live there for a while.

I also hoped a few years ago to become a Foreign Service Officer (I passed the tests, but never got called up). Partly, I thought it would be fun to live in another culture for a while.

So let's just all say good luck. Stay warm!

Whew! There for a minute I thought it was for political purposes. But reality is that she hates this country which is fine. If you hate it, then leave.

    From her blogspot…

Why Canada. National health insurance, legal gay marriage, no death penalty, full abortion rights, less crime, less poverty. Canada didn't support the invasion of Iraq, and they don't keep a huge military with which to bully the rest of the world. Religious fanatics do not control the government. It's not a socialist utopia, but it all adds up to a very different attitude about government, society and a nation's place in the world. In short, it's a country with values more similar to my own.

The US has moved so far to the right. It's not just the W Regime, even though they've made it so much worse. It's been going this way for almost 25 years. Relative to the norm in this country, I used to be a liberal. Now I'm a radical leftist - and I haven't changed at all!

    Good luck Laura. Stay warm!

And soon to come, legalized polygamy. Sounds like paradise.

sorry anthony, I don't mean to be rude to your friend, but I do think she's a slut. Again, my deepest apologies.

Apparently there's some sort of killing spree on in Toronto which is shocking people up there. I think they're blaming video games and American TV.

I wonder where Alec Baldwin will threaten to go now, come next election.

Relations with the Bush administration will likely improve under Harper as his ideology runs along the same lines of many U.S. Republicans.

Final results for the 308-seat House showed Conservatives with 124 seats; Liberals with 103; the Bloc Quebecois with 51, New Democratic Party with 29 and one seat to an Independent.

The Conservatives also earned 10 seats in Quebec, where they were virtually shut out in the last elections of June 2004. Harper said it was symbolic of the Quebecois desire for national unity as opposed to sovereignty for the French-speaking province.

Who will the Conservatives form a government with? PQ? The Libs in a grand-coalition?

No coalition, a true minority government. Basically, under Canadian precedent, the Governor General asks the largest party to form the government (though once the GG asked the second place finisher to form a government with the support of a small party).

The Tories will then look on an issue by issue basis on how to govern. They will work with the Martin wing of the Liberals on tax and economic issues, with the BQ on federalism issues, and the NDP on government reform.

No one wants another election so soon, so I think the other parties will play along
