The Liberals seem more to be posturing for the public. The oppisition can put forward a motion of conifidence as long it has the support needed. This will certainly wind up in the hands of the Governor-General.
Isn't he a crony of the Liberal party? Also, how serious is the ordinary Canuck about joining the USA if things REALLY break down. All I know of Canadian politics come from blogs and talking politics there is kinda of like talking about anything in the Yanks Abroad foum, sooner or later, it all comes back to Bobby Convey, or in your case, joining the USA. I must've misssed something. Unless she's actually a tranny. Meanwhile, a new poll has come out. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1115789648558_43/?hub=Canada
It's just not surprising. Martin and the Liberals have treated the electorate like idiots through this whole thing. How many examples do politicians need before one - JUST ONE for G*d's sake - is faced with an emerging scandal and says "We screwed up. We were wrong. People working for me did some very bad things. I'm calling for an immediate and full investigation, I'm going to fire everyojne connected with this thing and I myself am the one most to blame because this happened on my watch" The guy who does this will likely be reelected forever. But I ain't holding my breath.
But looking at the poll numbers one must ask -- what exactly do the Liberals have to do to really lose an election. My prediction is Clark Mark II -- the Tories win a narrow minoirty government that lasts 6 months.
The thing is that a Tory minority win would certainly end Paul Martin's political life. Any leadership race would certainly be long and ugly.
The Canadian government is "descending into chaos". The opposition grabbed control of the House of Commons on Thursday, shut it down, and asked for Clarkson to help trigger an election. The one-day walkout was the boldest move yet by the Bloc Quebecois and the Tories to demonstrate that the minority Liberals no longer hold power. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2005/05/12/1036740-cp.html
Probably pointing out to all her friends that Canadian conservatives are more liberal than American liberals and that it is nothing to be worried about and that she applied for a German visa, just in case.
She'd be pointing out that none of this affects free health care, the single most important criterion of governance, which proves that George Bush is Satan compared to Fidel Castro.
Stronach changed sides. How does this effect the government? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20050517.wpmstate0517/BNStory/Front Sachin
One interesting thing I've seen is that Stronach was dating the Tories deputy leader. I guess they are breaking up now.

Canada has simply ceased to have meaningful government. Goodbye old friend. http://www.steynonline.com/index2.cfm?edit_id=23
For what it's worth, there were stories last year linking Stronach to the pre-bypass Bubba. Scroll for photo: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1099417/posts
With some projections showing the Conservatives just short of a majority government, I was thinking about old Laura K. With Germany now out as an option, maybe she will look into Venezuela or Bolivia.
Sorry Anthony, I'm here in Canuckistan, and I couldn't be happier. Sorry to intrude, but I saw you in my Statcounter, and couldn't resist. A slightly more Conservative Canada still beats the hell out of anything south of the border. (And that's assuming Harper wins...) Bye!
Well, congratulations. As there are too many unhappy people in the world, I am glad you got to live out your dream. I do wish though you gave me a heads up on your move as my cousin was unable to find an apartment he and his new wife could afford in Brooklyn or Queens, so they had to move to Long Island. I am sure he would have liked your apartment. I did notice the issue with the BBC. I was supposed to be on that same BBC show in April about Zimbabwe (why, I am not quite sure, as the closest I have ever been to Africa was Gibraltar) but got bumped when the Pope died. You can do that? Do you work for the NSA or something? Good luck. And here's to scary conservatives with hidden agendas winning elections!
You're back! Do stick around this time, if you're not too busy waiting in line for a routine medical test. Sachin
