you just listed like 15 guys who have no business in the copa or the gold cup. they don't have the players right now for both. guys like amon, parks, CCV, EPB, Gooch, Tillman aren't even remotely close to being ready for a usmnt real match. there are a bunch of other guys that doesn't belong but I'll be nice and not list them. guys like parks can't get minutes at his club and you want him to start against brazil lol.
More and more pointing towards confirmed status El comité organizador de la Copa América 2019 confirmó que no habrán selecciones europeas. Here's an update to this thread: *Spoiler alert, no CONCACAF team will participate in Brazil 2019: http://www.espn.com/soccer/copa-ame...te-2019-copa-america-no-north-american-squads (Was first posted by Nicco Limmat in the FIFA forum section of BS.)
they dont have the players to do both the gold cup and the copa it makes a ton of sense to not participate. It gives them a chance to send a decent squad to a competition where they will have a few layups to look at fringe guys.
Were they even invited? From the sounds of it CONMEBOL didn't extend invites to ANY CONCACAF nations. It's kind of difficult to recant something that wasn't offered.
it was widely reported that they were considering both afc teams and concacaf teams its clearl that mex/us decided they weren't interested and lets be honest once those two teams aren't interested they have no interest in anyone else.
2019 is a real CA because it is schedule. Copa Centenário was a celebration not the real CA. We can have 20 invited teams in 2019 and it will still be a real CA. It's not about invites but schedule. Anyway I think Conmebol is backing US/Canada/Mexico WC bid so I think Concacaf might be open to these invitations
For us to go would be nice. But how can not going be a big deal? After all, we're not part of South America.
Playing against Concacaf isn't interesting. Who cares? It's like being stuck at the kiddie table at a family reunion.
Stupid fed... let's not challenge our players in a difficult environment against better teams. There's no benefit in that.
In that case, let's sit around and wait for an invitation from UEFA. We're not part of South America.
Not that again... Before claiming CONCACAF too weak for the US, might want to avoid losing soundly in Trinidad... just saying
I suppose the title of the thread needs to change...how about : "When the going gets tough, and life is rough, and Chicago House fluffs, and loses its stuff, just smile and sing, sing, sing : "Brave Sir Robin!"
if there is a CA in 2020 and the US is invited to that or it's hosted again in the US either one. Does it matter that you missed the one in 2019?
Yes we shat the bed collectively but that doesn't change that we should have made the World Cup and should have taken them up on going to the Copa.
With the current leadership at the US Soccer Federation, I have little confidence in that happening for a minimum of 50 years or more.
shoulda woulda... Bottom line is that you didn't. Italy, Netherlands and Chile aren't going so there's no such thing as the US shoulda...
truefan didn't claim CONCACAF was "too weak" for the U.S., but rather that the Copa America provides a more difficult environment against better teams. That is true for any CONCACAF team regardless if they did or did not qualify for the World Cup.
Canada might want to try qualifying for a World Cup for the first time since the 1980s before lecturing the US, which until this year, had qualified for every World Cup Since 1990.
