From Africanfootball.com: Ethiopia have beaten Seychelles 2-1 in their final Afcon qualifier in Group J thanks to goals from Getaneh Kebede and Saladin Said. Ethiopia with 11 pts and a 2nd 2nd placed qualifier, but I doubt that'll last longer than by tonight.

Did anyone see the end of the Sierra Leone-Ivory Coast game? Looked like SL scored off that last corner kick but they said it was cleared off the line.

Hard to say, but honestly can't see that ball crossing the line at any moment of the situation. Looks like a triple (?) clearance off the line. All in all not good from Cote d'Ivoire. Out of all the teams that played today Senegal and Nigeria (not at AFCON anyway) looked the best. Cote d'Ivoire are just not the same anymore, even though they have a world class defence. Also... Cote d'Ivoire almost pulled off another World Cup 2014.
It's not in the video posted, but in the 89'minute there was a clear penalty for Sierra Leone! Not given.
http://www.cafonline.com/en-us/competitions/qcan2017/news.aspx/NewsDetails?id=sN637i4xU3hHKSTMKNY9RA== contains the interesting line: "Defeat eliminated Cape Verde, who were briefly ranked No.1 in Africa this year and had been seeking a third consecutive Cup of Nations appearance." Not to turn this into a Concacaf thread, even though there had ben postings about other confederations, but it does make you wonder about the auto-bids awarded to the three Northern teams to the Gold Cup (and Canada's auto-bid should get removed anyway, especially if they don't advance to the final six next week). With the Gold Cup at 12 reams, only way I see this is to have elimination rounds to get down to 24, then a round of group play. (It may also require the WCQ "hexagonal" to get reduced to a final round of two four-team groups.) Another option would be to do one of the cycles be the combined WCQ / Gold Cup qualifiers.

I dislike the system of auto-qualification (save for the hosts) but in CONCACAF's case, Mexico & USA have been easily among the 2 or 3 most dominating teams for a while now. Although I wonder about Canada in this case; they're not better than Costa Rica or Honduras and I don't think they're better vthan the likes of Panama, TT or even Jamaica (despite their exit from WCQ). CAF is easily the most unpredictable and even confederation there is so it would be a bad idea. Egypt won 3 in a row but couldn't get to the WC and missed the next 3 (tbf they had political turmoil over there). Nigeria won it in 2013, made it to last 16 in 2014 WC then couldn't make it to the next 2 AFCONs...
Can't get any clearer than that. Not so much the tackle, but the leg grab! Questions must be asked about the left back. A brain fart much like the 2014 World Cup last minute penalty to Greece. Stonewall penalty and a 80% chance the wrong team is at the AFCON...
My friend referee says no penalty, rather foul in attack because SLE player stayed on the leg of CIV player ... Nervous for Uganda as if my team is playing, hopefully they'll finally make it.
Comoros have made a solid team of France based players, BFA and Botswana had trouble beating them at home. Hopefully Cranes won't have these troubles.
So far so good for Burkina Faso and Uganda. That would oust Ethiopia from the competition, while both of the above would qualify.
I dont know why the coach is ignoring Constant Djakpa for these scrubs. I watched the match and CIV looks very mediocre. Dont know if its the new coach or because they are without Yaya but this team looks poor. Not defensively, but in attack. They look devoid of ideas. Throughout the qualification they twice failed to beat S. Leone and could only manage a one goal victory and a draw against Sudan. I do not expect CIV to defend their ANC title in Gabon.
