Basically what I expected. Taylor Kemp was a surprise, but we have to call up SOMEBODY that can play left back.
But I was told he had such a terrible season? I like the roster. Klinsmann didn't name a single roster better than this one.
Dempsey has a heart condition, Besler offseason surgery. Otherwise, I think this is what Arena believes to be the best roster from MLS.
Some names mentioned in other thread but not on roster... Nguyen, Rowe, McNamara, Finlay, Hollingshed, Morrow, Rogers, Roldan, ??? Who are people most upset about?
Genuinely surprised not to see Rogers or Roldan. Disappointed in Taylor Kemp, but someone has to fill out the numbers I guess. Intrigued to see Zusi at right back. And hey, Acosta in midfield! Imagine that!
Think of it as one of those puzzles we got as kids, where you have to connect the dots to see what the puzzle reveals, and it doesn't look good at all. That midfield is a stick of hot butter.
He didn't have a terrible season, he just kinda had a nondescript season. However, who would folks name instead of him? Nobody with the potential of Trapp..........................(although I do like Roldan) Lots of good names in there. Glad that Agudelo go the call. Folks will whine about Wondo. But two things about that. A) He's still one of the leading US-eligible goal-scorers in MLS. B) With much of this preparation, Arena just needs to consider short-term familiarity with the USMNT.
Still some very Klinsi-esque callups on this roster, but everyone loves Bruce so I'm sure there won't be much complaining Roldan is the only glaring omission for me.
32-man roster. There's going to be some weird players in the mix. I mean, hell, Jurgen called up Connor Lade to the 2013 camp.
I am reading conflicting info on Manneh and Frei. Some are reporting that both players are only there to train and neither have completed their citizenship yet. Does anyone have anything official?
Wonderful to see the "old crew" represented in this new dawn! Rimando - check, DMB -check, Brad Evans- check, Zusi (as a defender) - check, Jones (unattached) - check, Wondo - check. If only Beckerman was not still recovering from injury we would be complete! Nice to see Greg Garza made it but I guess BS will need to continue to clamor for Robbie Rogers?
I personally have no problems with it except for Roldan. I'm just saying that there will be people that won't complain just because it's Arena calling them up instead of Jurgen lol. Brad Evans? Beasley? Rimando? Zusi? Wondo?
If Zusi is supposedly a right back, then I think it's irrelevant, because Rosenberry, IMO, instantly starts Camp Cupcake as the best option.
