Carter-Vickers slipped at a critical moment leading to Sheffield Wednesday's equalizer at 2-2, but Sheffield United ended up triumphant with a 4-2 win. Other than the slip, I thought CCV was strong, and I say this as a person who hasn't been impressed a single time he has played against adults.

 

CCV retains his starting spot against Wolves today.

 

BTW, going into today's game, Sheffield United at 6th in the Championship with 18 pts from 9 games, 8 goals allowed. Can move to 2nd with a win.

Up 2-0 now. CCV has made a major blunder in each of the past two games, but he is getting some starts and Sheffield United is outperforming expectations so far this season.

He's got a few years for his cerebral cortex to catch up to his natural athletic ability.

 

Or maybe he's just mistake prone. Could be forgetting things but I don't remember Spector making a ton of mistakes at 18/19 playing for Manchester United and Charlton. Not that there's a large enough sample size to say CCV makes a ton of mistakes.

 

He wasn't mistake prone for the u20's, at least.

 

What does Spector's career have to do with CCV?

 

Nothing. I was just saying that giving up penalties isn't necessarily something that defenders do when they're young. Not all young defenders are more prone to those mistakes and not all older defenders are less prone.

 

He was getting no gametime outside of YNT’s for an entire year. He’s gonna have some things to iron out, glad he’s getting the chance to do so.
