Yeah he looks to have quite the vertical leap which should help make up for a few inches in height deficiency. Would imagine that he can yam a basketball just like his pops, Hi-C.
My favorite moment from CCV in the Villa match was probably the 70 yard diagonal ball be put on the chest of the LW/LWB about halfway through the fist half. CCV is a physical beast but to me the coolest thing watching him the other day, to the naked eye his technique and distribution were on par with fellow his CB's Vertongen and Alderweired, that's no small thing.
The thing he seems to need the most work on is his passing. He needs to follow Toby, Dier, and Wimmer all around to learn how the move the ball. All three are pretty exceptional passers for CBs.
I thought his passing was fine. He didn't take very many risk playing into MF and Villa were playing pretty defensive but I'm more than OK with that from a 19 year old CB gaining trust. Low degree of difficulty on most of his attempts but it's obvious to the eye how confident and assured he is with the ball at his feet. At times he almost looked bored in possession, as if he wanted to take more risk but it was outside the scope of Pochettino's instructions.
He didn't say his passing wasn't fine during the match - just the thing he thinks CCV needs to work on the most. Do you disagree? Charles most certainly had hops - some of the blocked shots in that video are INCREDIBLE. Okay - back to CCV!
Alright Sir, you got me. I was just old enough to see the end of his career by the time gravity was having its way with his leaps and his waistline!

Off topic but too enticing to comment after watching Barkley video highlights. He was a hitherto unseen combination of strength, mobility and athleticism. There were other guys in his era who had more in each of those categories but Barkley was the best all-around package. He could be a very effective half-court player even with his relative lack of height. He consistently went up against bigger guys and more than held his own. He wasn't a pure force in the blocks like Karl Malone. He could excel when he got to take advantage of his agility in the open court. You have to remember this was the Showtime of Laker ball, west coast up-tempo was what the fans wanted. That style of play didn't come naturally to Barkley and the accumulated wear and tear eventually diminished his athleticism. I wouldn't say he had "great" jumping ability but like all great athletes he had great timing and instincts. When he went to Phoenix he became THE player. He relished being the focal point of their offense. He had the ego to match his fearlessness. He continued to be a consistent scorer, a real testament to his talent. On ability alone (and at the high of his game), one of the all-time best small forwards.
Agree - one of the very few truly unique players in the history of the game. We never saw someone like him before and I don't think we've seen something truly similar to him since. Sorry for off topic!
That's a good name to bring into the discussion. He was probably the most similar to Barkley in that same time frame but trying to compare them just underscores how unique Barkley was. Dantley was close to the strength to size ratio of Barkley. They were both formidable low post players. They were both great at using their bodies to gain an offensive advantage but Barkley was much the better all-around player. Dantley was primarily a scorer. Barkley could defend if he wanted, could get out and run if he wanted and was much more efficient on the offensive/defensive boards.

He's had a few nice long passes -- one defense splitting pass on the ground that picked out Son's run behind the defense came close to being an assist in particular. He wasn't at fault for the goal. This is who CCV is tasked with defending... Probably the only time in his career where he'll look like a boy among men. Edit: ...CCV just caused a penalty and Wycombe's 2nd goal with a totally unnecessary slide tackle in the box.
