Stoke may be the team in England that plays a style closest to our NT, so it's fitting.

<puts on rose-colored glasses>eventually CCV will get onto one of the promoted championship teams if he keeps hopping around like this....then he will finally be able to back-door his way into the EPL, perhaps.....

maybe it will even be this season with Stoke.......

I like the thought. If he goes on loan to a new Championship team each season, odds are he'll eventually land on one that gets promoted.

He hasn't been in the 18 for any league game, but started and played the full 90 in a League Cup match.

The League Cup match was (AFAIK) the only one this season in which Stoke has used a back three. My guesses, then, are that it's either a tactical issue and they don't want to use CCV in a back 4, or there's some type of registration issue for league play. It's weird that he hasn't even made the bench in the league.

With Lichaj and Geoff Cameron not playing this morning, I decided to watch CCV. He, like all of Stoke, looked pretty bad. I get that Leeds is picked by many for promotion but the game wasn't close especially considering many expected Stoke to be a strong contender for a playoff spot. Stoke allowed themselves to get disorganized far too easily. CCV was the center of a 3 man back line so he has to take some blame for it.

My conclusion - I wish Swansea could have bought him outright...Stoke is a mess but it's still early. However, they look more like a relegation contender than a playoff contender.

That pretty much matches what my eyes were telling me. Individually, he looked fine. As a team, massive disorganization and a complete inability to possess the ball. They're 0-1-4 and tied for dead last in the Championship. Considering the preseason oddsmakers had them in a tie with Derby and Cardiff with the fourth highest odds to win the league, it's a disastrous start.

Must be so hard to go on loan, perform well and establish yourself in a team/group only then to have to go back out on loan to a new team and environment and start back at square one. A lot of unrewarding work with an inferior team that has little invested in you...

The silver lining is that it builds character and enhances adaptability. Even if you never use those attributes as a footballer, they can help you as a dad later in life.
