Swansea loses 3-1 but remains mid-table. I've only seen one set of player ratings where he got a 6 along with a bunch of other players. Sounds like some of the midfielders were poor. Hopefully he plays in the March 16 FA Cup quarterfinal clash with Man City. That game might give us some clues as to his level right now.

Very successful loan for CCV - took some lumps early, found his footing and has become a mainstay in the starting XI. Well done.

Well, if ever you wanted a test to see if he's Premier League ready, this is it. Big day for him.

Edit: wait Swansea is already up 2-0? Wow. It's a good City team too.

Speaks to his fortitude and abilities that he has managed to get into the lineup for all 3 C-ship loans over the past couple years

Lost 2-3 in regulation. CCV called for a dubious penalty for the equalizer.

Swansea screwed by bad ref/ass ref decisions. Not a foul on the PK call and Aguero was offside by a half stride on the winning header. Both would have been caught easily by VAR, IMHO.

    CCV was freaking awesome today.

I can’t believe no one watched the whole thing and reported it. He had some incredible blocks and really didn’t put a foot wrong in defense.

Once Sterling came on, he seemingly followed him around the pitch. Or at least he changed positions.

It looked for all the word that CCV started as a leftback in a 4, largely staying in a very deep inverted fullback position (if that makes sense, basically well ahead and wide of the centerback but not overlapping).

I was really, really impressed. It was the best match I’ve seen him play.

Mariner is a terrible ref. No shock he stole the match from Swansea.

Interesting that the identical "failure to call offside" and allow a goal situation occurred even more blatantly in last night's MLS game between TFC and Revs. I don't understand. Perhaps the refs are receiving a new form of advice.

Every game I've watched recently has had dives called as penalties. For my teams and against. Maybe we need a penalty box referee.

He seems to have all the tools to become a pretty decent EPL defender. Not Spurs level probably, but mid-table is in his future.

From the matches I've watched, he actually passes forward quite often, and seems very comfortable under pressure.

damn impressive stat -one that's hard to just brush off as insignificant.....especially considering his physicality is his seeming strength....quite a combination then of power and possession capable with this player!

i think i was guilty of getting too excited about ccv and when he went through normal development challenges for cbs got too lukewarm. he still seems to be on track to be a top flight starter. purely for reference sake virgil was still at celtic at this point in his career and had yet to get a senior team cap.

Swansea has one of the younger Championship squads. Today, besides CCV (21), they also started Roberts (23), Byers (22), Grimes (23), James (21) and McBurnie (22). Even a 19 year old got his cameo.

It's a squad that could do better next season. So if the Spuds have no room to keep him, I'd be fine with him staying put.

    Starts

It has been a rough half for CCV and Swansea as they are down 3-0 at half. CCV was not at fault for the first or third goals, but on the second goal he should have done better to block the shot, but the only reason he had to block the shot was because Van Der Hoorn's defensive header off a goal kick went straight back into the 18 yard box and CCV had to recover. CCV was also caught in possession once or twice, but every single Swansea player was caught at least that amount if not more. He was moved to left back around the 30th minute and did well other than one clearance that went out of bounds. As a whole his performance was poor, but it was much better than Van Der Hoorn's and on par with the rest of the Swansea team. CCV was clean with the ball for the most part and he did well to cover for a few mistakes that his teammates made. I would really like to see him tried in the Lovitz/Ream role from what I've seen so far because I think that it would suit him pretty well.
