I admit to only seeing two Kitchen appearances for Hearts (and one was a drubbing of Thistle), but it does not look like they line-up such that he plays a pure CDM role. The idea that Williams, because he now plays a more free range midfield at Reading "can't" play DM is kind of odd, as is the idea that Stanko was playing a DM role the other night for the US. When he subbed on MB did not push further up the field. Stanko mostly looked like he was playing midfield. A map of his actions show him higher up field than Bradley across his minutes. He was certainly not playing a pure "destroyer" role in that game.
Exceptions don't make a rule guy called and said STFU. As if good things overall come from blatant bias toward one country/continent, and against another, especially the one you're coaching. Cameron, Holden, Besler, etc. say hi. Bobby Wood could have been called up when he was healthy and performing well in BL2. Didn't have to happen before. Same thing w/ Stanko.
I thought he looked like a promising player with specific tools. But potential to be a good player in his own right.
The national team discussion needs to go to USA Men and/or News and Analysis, please. I'll just delete anything that carries it past this post.
Stanko didn't start today, which may be a good thing. Vaduz were pounded by Lausanne Sport, 5-0. Stanko came on at 61', when it was already 4-0. Lausanne's fifth goal came in stoppage time and even that might have been...interesting. Stanko was the third and final sub, yet Vaduz's GK was subsequently sent off at 79'. Midfield sub Pascal Schurpf played GK for the last 10 minutes or so.

U.S. international Caleb Stanko was an unused sub for Vaduz on Saturday in a 6-0 loss to Basel. Vaduz remains in dead last in the Swiss Super League with 12 points through 15 games. It also has a league worst -23 goal differential (the next-closest is at -9 GD)
Stanko went unused on the bench for the fourth consecutive match, as Vaduz lost 3-0 to Luzern. Not a great look to not be playing on the last-place team in the Swiss Super League.
