http://www.nasl.com/index.php?id=3&newsid=809 Over shadowed by Brad Rusin to HB Køge, the Carolina RailHawks actually lost two players to Europe. GK Caleb Patterson-Sewell who had a cup of tea with RBNY and who's trialed in Europe previously has signed with Atlético Clube de Portugal of the Liga de Honra (2nd Division).
Another clean sheet by Caleb today as Atletico beat Naval 1-0. He has 4 clean sheets out of 6 games played, 0.5 goals against average. Atletico is currently top in the 2nd division. The worst they could be by the end of the weekend is tied for 1st. http://www.lpfp.pt/liga_orangina/pages/jogo.aspx?epoca=20112012&jornada=6&jogo=7112
Caleb with another cleansheet at Portimonense today. That's 6 out 9 games I think. http://www.lpfp.pt/liga_orangina/pages/jogo.aspx?epoca=20112012&jornada=9&jogo=7158
Good article on Caleb: Patterson-Sewell finally making waves Apparently Sporting and a couple unnamed clubs have been in contact with the Atlético regarding Caleb.
Atletico has 2 more games since my last update, losing 2-3 at home to Moreirense and drawing 1-1 with Penafiel. Caleb played in both but didn't get anymore clean sheets (obviously).
Either way it's nice to see such a great guy doing well. I thought CPS was the best keeper on that 2008 RBNY team by a significant margin, and am still flummoxed that Osorio preferred the Cepero/Conway tandem. Made no sense then; makes less now.
CPS is saying that Klinsmann and co are keeping tabs on him. Says he's also open to playing for Australia. http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=8636
Both countries have pretty solid GK pools right now (although the US pool is much deeper). Still cool to see him doing well and getting noticed the JK.
New York have reportedly made inquiries about bringing Caleb back to the club. Thus far Atletico have rejected all interested parties as Caleb is considered to be integral for their push toward promotion.
Wonder if NYRB are still interested. Meara didn't look bad; then again, based on last season's move for Rost, presumably they'd like more experience back there.

Looks like Caleb could be moving up to the Primeira Liga next season. He just signed a 3 year contract with Vitoria Setubal. Since rosters at this point are in flux, it's hard to project potential PT. Currently, Setubal's #1 is a Brazilian named Diego, who has been excellent over the past 2 seasons. His backup is Ricardo, the former Portuguese NT #1. Both of them are in their mid-30s, though. Here is a new interview/article on Caleb Patterson-Sewell over at the brand new Yanks Abroad website http://www.yanks-abroad.com/content.php?mode=show&id=9190
Setubal just sold, Diego, their number 1 GK from last season. It was expected This paves the way for CPS to be the club's new #1 Great news for Caleb
They are interested. Sending scouts in the beginning of the season He's going with the first to call him
