Despite the 1-0 loss to Colombia in the third-place game at the Copa Centenario, the USA finished with a 3-3-0 (W-L-T) record -- its best record in four trips to the Copa America.

    USA at Copa America:
    YEAR W-L-T
    1993: 0-2-1
    1995: 2-3-1
    2007: 0-3-0
    2016: 3-3-0

The USA has now played six teams ranked in the top 20 in the FIFA rankings in official championships during the Klinsmann era. The 2-2 tie with Portugal at the 2014 World Cup is the only game it did not lose.

USA vs. Top 20, Official Championships:
    1 Argentina (0-4, 2016 Copa Centenario)
    2 Germany (0-1, 2014 World Cup)
    3 Colombia (0-1, 2016 Copa Centenario)3 Colombia (0-2, 2016 Copa Centenario)
    4 Portugal (2-2, 2014 World Cup)
    11 Belgium (1-2, 2014 World Cup)

After outshooting Colombia and Costa Rica in its first two games, USA was outshot, 44-22, in its last four games at the Copa Centenario. The 7.2 shots per game are the fewest of the Klinsmann era in official championships.

    Shots Per Game, Official Championships:
    7.2 2016 Copa Centenario
    10.5 2014 World Cup
    11.7 2015 Gold Cup
    15.3 2013 Gold Cup

Wait! Portugal was 4th in the world at the time? They really are such a horrible team that has never played at any high level since at least 2006 to deserve such a rating.

True but they have also made something like 6 consecutive QFs in either Euros or World cups or maybe it was Major tournaments in general. I need to check on that but it was some unreal stat I heard once and need to look up again.

    Edit:
Well it can't be WCs it must be euros... Duh.

    Edit#2
Yeah ok Wikipedia says its 6 consecutive Euro group advancements going back to 96.

considering they missed WC round of 16 in 2002 and 2014, that stat sounds bogus.

I would like to add that this is the first time we've ever won three matches in a row at any major (Not Gold Cup) tournament in our modern era, and the first time we've won three matches at a major tournament since 1995 Copa America.

*Y'all feel free to fact-check me because mine was rushed and not that thorough.*

@cleansheetbsc There you go. I said it was something I only heard once so the deets were fuzzy.

The power of Wikipedia compels me!

...Apparently it compelled Italy too! 1-0
