It's not surprising to me that Dahoud's performance is seen so controversial. I think he showed good effort in defense and he was good in a couple of counter attacking situations until he had to make the last pass. In those situations, he could have created at least 2-3 very good goal scoring opportunities when he brought the ball forward from his own half. Instead, he got dispossessed every time before he could make the crucial final pass. That was extremely frustrating. If he's able to make that pass, it's an easy game for us. On the goal, he deserves criticism for not acting defensively smart. He made the movement towards the center and the immediate threat which was already taken care of by the CBs and lost the player he initially tracked. But that is usually the position covered by the RB and not an 8 and it showed. Dahoud definitely has to do better there but many things went wrong. LP was drawn out with no one covering him or helping out except Dahoud because we were caught in transition. That can happen, but LP also made no effort to come back so that we could regain our defensive structure. He might not have have been able to return in time but slowly walking around and just watching the disaster unfold looks bad as well. Besides, if the ball doesn't go to the one player Dahoud was supposed to defend, there was another Fürth player just waiting centrally at the top of the box with endless space and time to score. Defensively, it was just a huge mess. All these holes in and around the penalty box were ridiculous.
Fortunately Furth were even worse on Witsel's goal. What the defenders were doing running forward with time up and the ball not clear. If BVB did that we'd roast the defense as "not even BL2 quality", and we'd be right
