The wheels on the bus go round and round.....

With Atlanta out of the mix this year, the annual Regiment bus trip takes us to Cary NC to once and for all, pound the Jailhawks into a pulp of unrecognizeable goo. (that felt good typing that!). The trip is open to all fans.

Here are the particulars for this SOUTHERN DERBY match:

When: Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 pm
Where: Cary Railhawks in Cary, NC
Leave: Blackbaud Stadium at 1:00 pm on 5/9
Arrive: Blackbaud Stadium, approx. 1:00 am on 5/10
Cost: $50 Regiment members, $60 non-members (includes game ticket)
Contact: Austin Huff at 843-971-4625, ext. 201 or austin.huff@charlestonbattery.com
    Deadline: May 4

Same deal as before, big 'ol 50 passenger bus with a bathroom ("head", for you nautical types). This is the same bus company the Battery uses. We go up and come back the same night, no hotel stay.

We only have 2 home matches to advertise this before May 9, so, we're going to have to do a lot of pimping outside Blackbaud. We're putting together a flyer that I'll get out to folks and we can plaster the 3 Lions, Madra Rua, etc.

If you want to sign up, call the Battery office & talk to Austin (that's the phone number above). You can pay by credit card or mail in a check. Would prefer no cash but if you want to go that way, wait till the day of the trip to hand over cash. I'm sure there will be more posts but this should be enough to get this penciled in on your calendar.

I think Montreal or PR would be a hella fun trip, but I don't know if I'll have money for a big trip this summer. Don't even have a passport yet.

Regarding the bus trip, thats right after finals. How are you all going to go to Cary? If I can meet you somewhere along the way I may consider going that way.

I'd love to see Montreal's stadium...not to mention the city. Maybe we could make a detour towards Toronto too...lol

Here's the flyer for the trip, we gotta fill the bus in a short time this year, so, if you're going, go ahead and call Austin and get your name in the hat.

Save your money, don't fly down to PR - it's sad to spend all that money just to watch your team lose :p

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I live in DC and will try to make the game down in SC June 2th - should be fun

I believe we have a typo on the extension number for Austin, it should be #201. And if she's not available, ask for Vivi Brown, she's also helping take names.

still need quite afew people to make the trip happen this year. I know there are lot of things happening with it being Mothers day, and many of the colleges graduating that weekend but if your thinking about going, you wont regret it.

give Austin a call at 971-GOAL ext 201 today or tomorrow. You will not be charged anything until we get a confrimation if we are going on the bus or not.

Back up plan is carpooling/ renting a mini van and heading up.

Alas, we were not able to get enough riders for the bus, so, no bus trip for Cary.

Who's idea was Mother's Day again?

Hate that you guys couldn't get the bus trip together. I'm hoping we can do the same for the game on the 11th but frankly I'm not optimistic.

If anyone does drive up on your own, you're welcome to join us for the tailgate party in the shady area below the sculpture garden across from Parking Lot D. It's my son's birthday this weekend so we'll be having birthday cake at the tailgate (and could use some help devouring it since my wife bought the full sheet cake. LOL!)

Please join us if you do drive up. Here's the Facebook event invitation:

Kind of sucks but we knew it was going to be tough this year and weren't too overly optimistic either.

I do know a few fans are traveling up and will cross post your invite over on usldiscussions to spread the word.
