And great creative play by Danny and Salah both to put Shaq in 1v1. Great game! Naby, Danny, and Alisson in particular were fantastic. MOTM may be VVD, I just can't say enough good things about him plus he assisted today, started some attacks with long balls, headed some set pieces on goal. He's the man.
That Burnley goal was like the tugging of the lion’s tail, wasn’t it? The only way Burnley was going get another goal was from a, yet more, Liverpool error, especially from a set piece. I’ve had a great 4 days, lads.
As much as we all jizz over Man City and talk about them being a juggernaut wiping all in their path, they must be pissed as hell to know we are RIGHT RIGHT BEHIND THEM AND READY TO POUNCE.(In spite of their record being as good as unblemished) A Win away to Bournemouth and a Chelsea Home win against City next and were Leaders. Never Say Never.YNWA.
Thank goodness we came out of that with all three points. Burnley's shithouse tactics and heavy tackling pissed me off so I'm well pleased they got nowt from this game. Hopefully Joe's injury isn't a bad one. I had to laugh near the end when Firmino tried that slide tackle and you could read Dyche's lips -" what kind of challenge was that ?" . Well the same kind your lot were doing the whole match . Then he had a moan at Klopp after the game too. Hope they drop down Three points in the bag , keep pace with City . Bournemouth up next I think.
Was a great finish. We could've easily rolled over with the changed lineup and garbage goal conceded. Credit to Milner for scoring a great placement shot. Then the tide turned. Keita is growing into this team. Next one is tougher but I have confidence that we'll find a way.
Never saw a god angle of their goal but thought there was a good chance the scorer was offside? Also possibly "kicked out of GK's hands", but probably OK in that respect.
Great game by Keita, most consistent performer today. VvD, Alisson also very good. Sturridge also decent. Milner a well taken goal and also a much better LB than Moreno. In future, if Robinson needs a rest, please play Milner at LB instead!
The high line is great. We catch the opposition offside almost every time. We also prevent teams like Burnley from playing long balls into the box near the goalkeeper.
Gomez’ injury is a major buzzkill. I would hate to see a long term injury stop the momentum of what has been a sensational start to the season for him. He has been one of our best players this season. If he is out for a long period we would have to heavily rely on Lovren and Trent. It might also mean more games for Matip and a reappearance of Clyne.
Keita was great. I think Naby is the key to Liverpool taking their performances to another level. I’m shocked it has taken this long, but it’s still going to happen. I thought he was one of our best players in the first couple games. Then injuries, international breaks in which he had to go to Guniea, and a run of tough games in which Klopp only trusted the midfields from last season has put his season on hold. Now his season is ready to truly take off.
It's a tremendous tactical adjustment... I mean, that sounds a little stupid maybe because it's something of an obvious change, but I wouldn't have had the balls to implement it! I keep waiting for it to bite LFC on the ass, but it keeps not happening. Good coaching, and good discipline on the squad to hold that line.
Those are a decent shout but I like this the best, perhaps because we haven’t seen this type of play much this year. Origi’s is great because of the sheer comedy of it. Studge is great individual skill, but this is 5 brilliant touches by 4 players, from the end line to scoring in about 3 seconds. The throw from Alisson, pass from Sturridge, 1 time ball from Mo to put it on a plate for Shaq to blast home.
I thought it was offside from I think Wood's attempt, and then it did look like Alisson grabbed it before it got kicked out of his hand. So it really should be 3-0
The save preceding this is incredible. Alisson threw the ball almost halfway up the field on a rope to Sturridge’s feet!
