And so we go again. Expect a spiky encounter with your typically hard-working and tousy team led by a manager with a similar attitude. Give Barnes and Wood a chance and they will score. However, since Klopp has been here, we seem to have conquered these types of teams who previously gave Liverpool such a hard time. I remember the sense of grievance from the media and Dyche himself when Liverpool won at the death from a van Dijk header. It’s up to Liverpool to stop the sheik’s plaything running away with the league again. So another 3 points, please, to set up nicely for the international break.
this is the game where we lost Gomez for best part of a year. another reason to stuff the buggers. Klopp's got a whole week to prep for this. 3 points and a clean sheet !!!!!!
Very tough match. They were seconds away from an away win in the last match and Barnes is in the goals early. They don't have the distraction of Europa League this season and it shows, they are fresher and really up for every match. Win the war in the middle of the park and then dominate them. Salah is gonna get kicked the whole match - let's hope one is in the box! This is probably one of the hardest away matches of the season and three points would be magnificent.
It should be easier to go there in August than it would be on a cold, rainy Tuesday night in January. I expect Klopp to go with the same team as against Arsenal.
Think it was actually our old buddy Klavan who scored that one. Right before VvD got here. Even though we've taken care of business there the last two seasons, this game always makes me squirm. I know we'll be up for it and ready. Old habits die hard though.
2-1 feels about right for this one. Could be a draw, disappointing 1-1 also feels quite possible, but I think the attackers being in good form will be enough to take all the points here.
I think we're over having problems with the "Lessor" teams. A good win from a second half press and a clean sheet.
Burnley have a feel of a banana skin team, much like Bolton under Benitez. They've been up for the past 3 seasons (seems longer, no?) and in descending order (home and us first) those results have been: 4-2 & 3-1 1-1 & 2-1 (Klavan!) 2-1 & 0-2 4 wins, a draw and a loss.
I understand that we're nervous. But we're a far stronger, faster team who know how to leap tall buildings. We are not the underdogs.
Burnley just lost their opening round Caribou Cup game last night - but I think they rested some regulars. Not sure if they will be tired from the effort yesterday while we have a week between games.
100%. Burnley are a side that is going to make you work to beat them, but this team knows that and knows what needs to be done to get a result.
Exactly. Although some would have you believe that Klopp sits the team down while they talk about how they can stop Burnley running rampant against them. Let's hope we can get one more goal than them.
Yeah, I must admit I was a bit shocked to see they lost (by 2 goals) at home to Sunderland...at home. Regardless of who they trotted out there.
Looking ahead to Saturday perhaps and the tough task they will have of keeping Mane', Salah, and Hard Bobby off the scoresheet. I'm not really a fan of Dyche. He rubs me the wrong way.
Yeah, I figured but you'd think a team like Burnley would want to push for some "winnable" silverware like the League Cup.
Burnley is going to have 33% possession and try to nick a goal on the counter. That's how they played at the Emirates. Gave Arsenal all they wanted, though the final score was 2-1. Liverpool must stay organized in defense. Barnes is hot right now. The Burnley goalie looked strong.against Gunners. It should be a win for the Reds but not a cakewalk.
