    RIP Michael Klein

I'm sorry for your loss, Borussia. This is the second time that I've posted about a one-time Uerdingen player that died young(Axel Jueptner was the first). In sports it seems like there is one team per league that has especially hard luck and Bayer Uerdingen must have been that Bundesliga club singled out by fate for harsh treatment.

    Thomas Klein

Thomas Klein was a striker for Nuernberg from 1989 to the end of 1990. In 1989-90 he got in 11 GPs with a goal scored and no bookings; in 1990-91 he made a single appearance at the Bundesliga level without scoring or getting carded before transferring in midseason to second division Homburg.

    Thomas Klepper

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Klepper played in defense for Frankfurt from 1987 to 1990. After serving as a fulltimer in the back for his first 2 Bundesliga seasons he only made 1 appearance in league action in his third and final campaign in the BL(major injury?). All told he put in 52 appearances in the Bundesliga for his club picking up a pair of goals and a pair of yellow cards(all in his first season). He wasn't really tall but even for his height he was 5 to 10 kgs too light.

    Peter Klimke

Klimke played in defense for Leverkusen from 1979 to 1982. He was a fulltimer(barely)for his latter 2 seasons in the Bundesliga and a parttimer in the first. In 57 total career league appearances he scored a pair of goals and got the yellow card 5 times.

    Rene Klingbeil

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Klingbeil was a defender for HSV from 2004 to 2007(he also spent time with HSV II in that stretch). His playing time with the big club went down as the seasons progressed; he started out as a fulltimer but dropped to parttime status in his middle season in the Bundesliga and finally was relegated to the role of a reserve in his final campaign in the league. All told he put in 51 appearances in league action with a pair of assists and 10 yellow cards to his name.

    Dirk Klinge

Klinge played in midfield for Karlsruhe from 1992 to 1994. He made 13 appearances in the Bundesliga in each of his 2 seasons in the league with only a lone yellow card(no goals scored)to show for his efforts in that time(that was in the first season).

    Michael Klinkert

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I wonder if this player has already been done but in any case Klinkert played in defense in the Bundesliga for Schalke in 1987-88 and Moenchengladbach from 1989 to 1999. Of his 11 total seasons in the league he was a regular in the lineup for 10(he gets longevity points)and a parttimer for 1(a serious injury probably kept him from fulltime status that season). He appeared no less than 301 times in BL competition scoring 18 goals and adding a pair of assists; he also got booked 49 times resulting in 46 yellow cards, 2 yellow/red cards and a red card. He was somewhat tall but 5 to 10 kgs underweight for his height. Despite what he did in the Bundesliga he was unable to do enough to save either Schalke in 1988 or Gladbach 11 years later from relegation.

    Klinkert Pics Continued Some More

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Still more Klinkert pics. Someone stupidly forgot to tell the player to take off his wristwatch in the last shot, so yes, I did spot that and decided to go ahead anyway.

    Hans Klinkhammer

    [IMG][IMG]

Klinkhammer played in defense for Moenchengladbach from 1973 to 1980(after spending the 1972-73 season on the Gladbach roster without getting in any GPs)and 1860 Munich in 1980-81. He split his 8 seasons in the Bundesliga between the 4 in which he played as a fulltimer in the back and the 4 in which he played as a parttimer. In his 163 career total league appearances he scored 5 goals and got shown the yellow card 14 times. He was a member of the Moenchengladbach sides that won the UEFA Cup in 1975 and 1977.

    Fritz Kloo

Kloo was on the Bayern roster as a striker from 1976 to 1979 but never got to put in even a single appearance in Bundesliga play. He is here, as you would figure by now, only because I found a photo of the player.

    Josef Klos

Klos was listed on the Hamburg SV roster for the 1987-88 Bundesliga season as a defender but never got to play in a single league match. He, like other deep reserves, is here because I found a pic for this player.

    Tomasz Klos

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Polish defender Klos played in the Bundesliga for Kaiserslautern from 2000 to 2003 and for Cologne from the beginning of the 2003-04 season until 26 January 2004. He was used as a fulltimer in defense for 1 season, as a parttimer for 2 and a reserve for 1(when he left the Bundesliga to return to his homeland to play in the Polish league after 6 GPs in the BL that season). He got in 57 GPs in his league career scoring 5 goals and getting written up 9 times for 8 yellow cards and a yellow/red card. He was tall but about 5 kgs too light for his height. He was unable to contribute enough to prevent Cologne's relegation in 2004(especially since he was gone several months before the end of the season).

    Denis Kliouev

    [IMG][IMG]

Russian midfielder Kliouev played for Schalke from 1997 to 1999. In 1997-98 he played in 21 Bundesliga games scoring once and getting the yellow card 4 times; in 1998-99 he only made 3 apppearances in league action without getting any goals or bookings. For his last name I chose to use the Schalke version rather than the Fussballdaten.de version.

    Sven Kmetsch

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I thought this player had been reviewed but in any case Kmetsch played in midfield for Dresden(1991-95), HSV(1995-98)and Schalke(1998-2003 and on the club's roster from 2003 to 2005 without any GPs). He spent 8 seasons as a regular in midfield, 2 as a parttimer and 2 as a seldom used reserve. In his 261 total career Bundesliga appearances he netted 13 goals and assisted on 7 others while also displaying a serious case of bad temper on the field with 66 total bookings resulting in 64 yellow cards(including 10 in 1996-97), 1 yellow/red card and 1 red card. Kmetsch wasn't tall so he was probably well positioned playing where he was in midfield. In 1997 and 1998 he made 1 appearance per year for the German NT without generating any in-game stats. In 1995 he became yet another of a large group of players that got cut loose by Dynamo Dresden after that club got relegated then penalized for cooking the books to try to hide massive debts with a second relegation down to the amateur third division.
