Up to nearly $2900. Come on guys, we can do better than that. These kids need our help. please donate - this is a great cause. https://www.justgiving.com/teams/BSisDonating
Good total. One observation from me having done something similar (street child orphanage / school in La Paz, Bolivia). We were encouraged to purchase useful things and bring these to the orphanage - in that case, light bulbs / shower heads / tools for the garden etc rather than simply hand over cash. That way the money was used for things that were needed rather than a LCD TV for staff room which had apparently happened elsewhere (explanation for my vote)
I'm embarrassed to say amidst the rush of organising my trip, I completely forgot about this. Thankfully I remembered today and donated. I know this isn't meant to be a "donate because you used scorpyns app" fund, but I think there would be a few of us that felt more compelled to donate after using the app. Funnily enough, I got all the tickets I wanted without the app. After being so lucky, I'd be stupid to mess with karma and not donate!
mmm........so I go away for three weeks and this thread drops off the planet! Well, I'm back - and so is the thread! $5,333 raised now with 111 contributors. What's stopping the rest of you??
Bump! Plus I want to say this. I noticed I am getting undue credit for running this charity. Fact of the matter is, the idea I had was to buy tickets for some Brazilian kids. It was other people on this forum who discussed and decided to go with doing a charity as it can help more kids. Those are the real heroes and they are the ones deserving all the credit. Thanks anyway. I am happy to see a generous contribution from so many people and now from Brazilians as well. Great work you all.
Hello everybody, First of all I admire and respect you all for using football to bring hope to those don´t have. I´m new here, brazilian, do not hold a single ticket for WC and don´t want it. I will not ask for the ultimate app version or something ticket related. I´ve just donated a little amount for this initiative and would like to share how shamed I´m feeling of the people here in Sao Paulo that just aim to get a ticket through Scorp app and don´t even ask what could they give in return. Of course there are exceptions and made me very happy but also there a lot of egocentrics... "me1st, me2nd and me3rd". So, I´d like to kindly ask for you all to reendorse the importance of this everytime somebody question about a technical issue in app or fifa site. I would suggest a kind of signature for every post you answer, like: "Before asking for help, have you already helped someone in need? Donate and share the ideia! https://www.justgiving.com/BSisgiving" What do you think? I know that you all are more influent than other members, so I decided to talk directly to @Scorpyn78 , @Stuckin1au , @clubamericalara , @whiskerxx , @enthusiastic and all others that are reading and are felling great for making part of this all. Thanks for the attention and sorry the long message!
If you prefer a portuguese signature: "Antes de pedir ajuda, já pensou em ajudar alguém que realmente precisa de você? Faça uma doação e compartilhe esta idéia! https://www.justgiving.com/BSisgiving"
Great post and a great idea to update the signature. I am setting it as my default signature for all my posts till the world cup ends.
I hope more people donate, even if you did not get any tickets with the app. I made my donation (number 50 at that time) before getting any ticket with the app and I finally got my 2 M64 with the app two days ago, on Sunday around 11:40 am. I don't understand how is possible that lot of people used the app and got their tickets, people that were able to spend a little over the face value if they had to, and then after they got it with the app, they couldn't make a single donation of at least $5.00, which was the cost of a Coke at the Stadium!!!
Yes, I made it exactly how you said... I hadnt used scorp app and did not hold a single ticket to wc IN MY COUNTRY! I'm "Carime" in that list and AntonioMarghereti some posts above (Was using my brother's login).
Yesss, correct man! Those are my words. Respect you too! I'm planning to visit the institutions we helped through ABC Brazil. Keep you all posted!
Just pitched in to this very worthy cause. Better late than never I guess. Thanks to @Scorpyn78 and the rest of you for organising this donation and for putting me on the right path on planning for my first World Cup. Nice to meet some of you Bigsoccer people in Brazil, and maybe I'll see some of you in 2018!
