Morgantown - Village was quite the semi.

1016 spectators had found their way to The Cauldron, despite the heavy rain. The match took place on neutral ground. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for MSE. Lineup: Upton - Roberts, Mills, von Wolffskeel - Perfeito, Vercayie, Callaway, Schrader, Gordon - Runfolo, Payboğa.

Village started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: van Kan - Mullins, Gillespie, Golden - Übelacker, Brugnera, Chmiel, Galasiński, Parent - Tyler, Brkic.

18 minutes in, the referee awarded MSE a penalty. Oralcan Payboğa coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. MSE solidified their lead at the 19 minute mark, as Oralcan Payboğa manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 2 - 0. Clint Callaway unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Ken Gordon of MSE was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. It might be a while before the fans see Village's Chad Gillespie again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 26 minute mark. He was replaced by John Ayala. Village had a fair chance to reply in the 32:th minute due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end Stu Tyler was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. MSE held the ball, with a clear 52 percent of possession.

In the 66:th minute, Dinko Brkic replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 2 to 1. Thomas Schrader behaved like an inexperienced youth player in the 71:th minute as he gave the ball away to Giampietro Brugnera. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. Thomas Schrader should probably have put his team up another goal in the 74:th minute, but some great goalkeeping by Ingo van Kan kept the visitors in the game. Village made it 2-2 as Stu Tyler knocked the corner kick to Avery Mullins who whipped in a cross to the far post. Village's 2 - 3 goal came on a questionable penalty, but Dinko Brkic struck that one home without a second thought. A good free kick by Oralcan Payboğa would have scored the equaliser for MSE, had it not been for the dramatic save by the visitors' goalkeeper. This half belonged to Village, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Lowie Vercayie performed admirably for MSE. Allan Upton was a disappointment, however. Most important Village player was Dinko Brkic. However, John Ayala made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
