When did Gil get a lot of playing time? He was never given the keys to the car, in his preferred position, for any extensive time. Saucedo could have helped them last season, but was shipped off before he could get a chance.
Absolutely ridiculous to pretend that Gil didn't get a lot of playing time with RSL from an extremely young age. Boo hoo if he wasn't given the keys to the car, a special parking spot, and a custom "trequartista " license plate just for him. RSL might deserve blame some where a long the lines of Gil's development. He also just might not be that good. Either way, to act like RSL did Gil wrong by not playing him enough, or even more hilarious, not playing him enough in his "preferred" position is ridiculously funny.
Exactly. Luis Gil played 134 regular season appearances (89 starts) comprising a paltry 7,819 minutes at RSL. He had plenty of time and plenty of chances. He's done zilch at Querétaro since going to Mexico, as well.
I'd like to see what RSL does with Saucedo this season before I make any judgement. Saucedo is better than Jordan Allen in pretty much every facet of the game and he is actually a contributing member of our youth nats while Allen rides the bench (if he's called in at all). There's no reason that he shouldn't be getting at least as many minutes as him imo. I don't think I've ever been particularly impressed while watching Allen play compared to Bofo.
In fairness to Allen one one of these points, he hasn't been age-eligible for YNTs since the last U20/23 cycle ended.
Real Salt Lake have offered #LFC a deal for Lennon but it was not close to their valuation.— Glenn Price (@GlennPrice94) January 13, 2017
Now a possible loan? http://soccer.nbcsports.com/2017/01/14/report-liverpools-lennon-heading-on-loan-to-rsl/
According to the Liverpool Echo, the plan is for him to return to Merseyside at the latter part of 2017 (if the loan were to go through). http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...liverpool-teenager-brooks-lennon-set-12454459
If true, this might be the end of Lennon being a serious part of Liverpool's plans going forward. Too much money at that club, too many better and ready-made attacking players in Europe to choose from. Coming to MLS where coaches are extremely volatile in their handling of young attacking players, it can easily become a situation where he gets little playing time, gets lost in the shuffle, and becomes out of sight out of mind to Liverpool (*cough* Pelosi *cough*). Hope it works out though.
In the U-20 January Camp: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...or-january-camp-ahead-of-world-cup-qualifying FORWARDS (4): Jeremy Ebobisse (Portland Timbers, Bethesda, Md.), Brooks Lennon (Liverpool; Paradise Valley, Ariz.), Josh Sargent (Scott Gallagher Missouri; O'Fallen, Mo.), Brandon Vazquez (Atlanta United FC; Chula Vista, CA)
Because they think they can get more. A player doesn't have to be in Liverpool's first team plans to be worth money. Brad Smith was coming into this season as 3rd choice left back and Liverpool got £6m for him. Even if Liverpool eventually got a tenth of that they'd probably be making a very good profit on the money they've put into Lennon. Pelosi was a very different case. He never seemed to fully recover from his awful leg break.

I'm sure someone has made the joke already, but it's a damn shame a Lennon couldn't make it at Liverpool. Yeah, Gil got every chance to succeed, he just couldn't. A bit OT, but I don't know if there's a US player I've overshot more then Gil. I'm usually really conservative about prospects, but I was a huge believer in Gil up until his last year with RSL. For me, he's a big miss in our pool. He was on the path to being in the first XI in Russia, and he's a thousand mikes from that now.
Brooks Lennon cleared to train with RSL in Casa Grande between U.S. U-20 camps. Potential loan deal still yet to be finalized. pic.twitter.com/lpk1YKW0oA— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) January 28, 2017
I don't think that's v true. He was v highly regarded for a long time. That being said though, I don't think this loan means Brooks is done with Liverpool. Different players require different treatment and if he's really successful in the MLS it's good for him AND Liverpool. Maybe the idea was he was offered a loan right now to a lower league team OR the MLS. Typical player development from English clubs really.
