Considering someone says Austin is not good market for soccer, what woul you think about a Nasl expansion in Dallas-Fort Worth area brining back the name of Dallas Tornado maybe lightly modified like DFW Tornado?
Why go in an MLS market? Especially since they're not competing with them anymore. They'd do better if they went to a market without a team.
because Usa market especially in top markets is big enough for more leagues in the same city and area
Only in LA, NY and maybe Chicago. Any other market in this country will only support one team well. Just look at the other US sports leagues as an example. Again sorry to burst your bubble, but the days of NASL conpeting with MLS are over.
it's not competing it's just implanting franchises in the biggest markets, if people reasoned like you then the Cosmos should have restarted in Buffalo, Albany or New Rochelle just to make an exemple
the most appealing markets are the ones in which MLS is already present and rooted, so Nasl should look for Chattanooga, Cherokee, Chicopee or Carson City?
I actually think the Dallas-Fort Worth, specifically the Fort Worth part, is one of the few MLS markets where putting an NASL team makes sense. I don't think it would be a good idea to put a team in or immediately around Dallas, but I think they could put a team in Ft. Worth.
Yes, because how many fans a team draws at a lower level indicates how many they will draw at a higher level.
Have you not been paying attention the last 6+ months? You have a poor sense of business if you think the NASL could survive another season with him as commissioner.
Ah, the typical fanboy response of its all MLS and USL's fault. So I guess all the constant poor decisions making over the past 4 years was him trying his best too?
In theory it could work. Much like the Fire, FC Dallas barely have a presence in their market due to them playing In the middle of nowhere. However, I'd rather NASL try to tap markets that haven't been touched yet. It's annoying that all 3 leagues are stepping on each other toes when there's underserved markets still out there.
Wasn't serious, fanboy. You have no more proof that Fort Worth's supposed NASL team - competing against not only all the other entertainment options the Metroplex offers, but a first division club with a 22 year head start - would "work," given the paucity of NASL teams that have been able to "work" over time.
So, wait, you're saying the location of Toyota Park is why they don't draw more? @ElJefe should know about this.
If only HSG had built the stadium in the burbs, next to a NASCAR track and a Cabela's, like Sporting KC's owners did. And this thread is a great thread... for me to poop on. The Dallas Tornado died in the first year of the Reagan Administration, 36 years ago, drew fewer than half the fans than FC Dallas draws on a bad night, and although they were the longest-lived NASL team, they were around for only 15 years. Meanwhile, MLS' Dallas franchise is about to start its 22nd season, its 13th season with the name "FC Dallas," its 13th season in Frisco, and just got done winning more silverware in 2016 than the Dallas Tornado won in 15 years of existence. America's Biggest Soccer Fan Ever had every opportunity to rename MLS' Dallas franchise to "Dallas Tornado" when he took it over in 2002. It would've been a better name than the one than they chose. But he didn't and I completely understand why. Some things from the '70s weren't that great and are better left in the '70s.
FC Dallas sux big time as a name and considering Nasl wants to be the moral heir of old NASL the Tornado would be the best name for a team in Dallas - Fort Worth
There are good reasons many are undeserved. Obviously we all know it is about ownership choice. If some rich wants to buy into NASL forth Worth, I think NASL should be ok with it. Now a rich guy wanting a NASL team in North Dallas, I would hope NASL owners would vote that down.
