Any actual news regarding what actually is happening with him at Arsenal?

Can mods do something about these pointless posts about Shea's european future?

Perhaps another thread would be better for this banter.

Based on this article it sounds like Brek will only be training for another week to week and a half at Arsenal (last USMNT match was November 15th so a month long training would mean to the end of next week).

"Out of the midfield, the biggest absence is Brek Shea, who went on a month-long training stint with Arsenal to cap off an exhausting 2011 season. Fitness concerns are likely the reason he has been left off the roster for now, as he recovers from the grueling schedule."

The article is about names picked for the U-23 roster but it at least gives us some idea for how much longer he will be training there and maybe when he will have some interviews like Beckerman is doing.

£5m isn't that much for a prospect, if that's what you consider him to be. Spurs paid around €10m for Sandro. Personally I don't think Shea has shown he's worth that level of investment.

Yes, I believe he is going to have to really show what he can do this upcoming MLS season.

If y'all watched last week's Preview Show, you saw Brek twice training with Arsenal. Once in a "huddle" as Wenger was talking, and then speaking with Wenger as the huddle broke up.

Um, What? No Arshavin and Brek are completely different players on completely different paths, Brek is up-and-coming and Arshavin was the toast of Europe on his last big money transfer; Brek theoretically has a few moves left to make and upside potential. 15m Euros is significantly more than $8m (or at least it was.)

No, Arshavin and Brek are not comparable in any sense to me.

I would love if Arsenal signed Shea and completely shut Arshavin out of the lineup. That would be simply beautiful.

A transfer for Shea is unlikely... Dallas just traded Chavez away to create space to get forwards. I dont think losing both of their starting wide mids was in their plans for the upcoming season. This has everything to do with what Dallas' plans are for next season. It is possible Hyndman wants to play Castillo & Jackson out wide & sign a real good striker with money gathered from Shea but still unlikely. Any one can see that Shea is likely going to have a better season next year so Dallas will probly settle for losing him next winter & getting even more $ possibly..
Its alot less likely with the recent trade of Marvin Chavez to SJ Earthquakes though imo..

One way would be to finish the season stronger. It seemed like he he was non existent the last month or so

He seemed exhausted. And if that were the reason for his dip in form, things are unlikely to improve next season after spending some of the offseason training in Europe and attending the various U23 and MNT camps/matches/friendlies late this year and early next.

He had roughly 2 weeks off from Dallas' last playoff game until the November friendlies. He then went to train with Arsenal and ended training on December 9th. He'll have had about 6 weeks off if he gets transferred at the start of the transfer season (January 1st). That's as much time off as most full internationals have. He'll be fine.

Apparently they prefer a 35 year old man.
