Re: Israel, AIPAC involved in spying against the US The interesting question is to see how mainstream American Jewish groups, and their supporters in government, react? Not long ago, when Jonathon Pollard was caught and convicted of spying for Israel, most Jewish groups were initially united in condemning Pollard. They worried, in fact, that the case would highlight questions about their loyalty and associations with Israel and wanted him out of the way quickly. Only later did they try, even then discreetly and quietly and not in a unified way, to win him a pardon -- an effort that didn't succeed. Things are different today. First, these accusations go into the heart of this administration and its policies. Second, they involve higher profile individuals. Finally, and most importantly, there has been a sea change in attitudes and confidence regarding the limits to such acts that will be tolerated -- and a corresponding decrease in worries about a backlash to such cases.
I thought this was a hoax but there really is a story on CBS news about it. Cripes. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/08/27/eveningnews/main639143.shtml
Re: Israel, AIPAC involved in spying against the US What the hell does Israel need to spy on us for anyway?
Less money and weapons for Israel. More funding for special ed. so that Chad doesn't have to eat toxic paste anymore. On second thought, Chad keep eating the green paste, it's good for ya, lotsa vitamins! Thatsa good boy!
Re: Israel, AIPAC involved in spying against the US Honestly, are you actually this naïve or are you just being difficult?
"Countdown with Keith Olberman" reports that the supposed mole works in the office of neo-con nutcase Doug Feith and that there is suspicion that Israel responsible for forging Niger yellow cake document. If true Bush got used by Sharon to take out Saddam. Very interesting and even more disconcerting!
Re: Israel, AIPAC involved in spying against the US Ben...I got that from the TV report, not the web article. I couldn't fink a link to the show I was just watching.
Holy smokes!!!!!!!! If true (big big if) Israel just f'ed itself. I'm more on the Israeli side of things than the Pals' side, but damn, that would be unforgiveable. If they suckered us into invading Iraq, Cheney 'em. The whole point of supporting Israel is ideological, not strategic. They're a democracy with liberal values. But Eff that.
