Certainly. Minas Gerais will be in party at 18:00, can be celebration of the atleticanos or cruzeirenses.
Cruzeiro fans creating a scene in the stands. Surprised they let this shit go that long before stopping the game.
Flamengo, Santos, Sao Paulo the only 3 teams left not relegated. Although Flamengo got that hand in 2013 ...
It is also worth remembering that Santos and São Paulo boycotted the Brasileirão in 1979. They were not relegated, of course, but only Flamengo participated in all editions to date.
It's crazy how Cruzeiro fell from lofty heights so quickly. It won a back-to-back of the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2013 and in 2014 and another back-to-back (Copa do Brasil) in 2017 and in 2018. It kicked butt in this year's Copa Libertadores group stage, faced River Plate (two goalless draws) and only lost on PKs, and looked like a very solid team until then. This team eliminated Santos, Flamengo, and Palmeiras from Copa do Brasil competition since 2017, so it was definitely a pedra no sapato type of team. To think that with better management and sounder fiscal policy, this team could very well have been a contender for this year's Campeonato Brasileiro makes this result all the more tragic. I feel no joy in Cruzeiro's rebaixamento. It's not a team I feel any particular affinity for (unlike Flamengo, as I have memories of Zico and companhia destroying Liverpool back in 1981 and how hard they had to fight to get there - Cobreloa's dirty antics). Thiago Neves is not somebody I like, all the more given how he was behind the way Rogerio Ceni was treated, but overall, it's not like I ever held any animus against this team, the way I have against Corinthians or Vasco. I hope they're back in the top division next year.
I think most are enjoying this relegation due to Thiago Neves and what the other players did to Rogerio Ceni. Adilson admitted yesterday that rogerio was right about many things. I am enjoying this relegation.
I would have rather seen Fluminense go down, but it's hard to argue that Cruzeiro fully deserved the relegation. They were much more deserving than Flu were at the end of the day.
Well, I'm a fan of Atlético Mineiro, so let's say I'm happy. But it's always bad to see a big club being relegated to the second division. It will be a long year for Cruzeiro. What I can say to my Cruzeiro friends is: toda arrogância será castigada. E foi mesmo.
I wonder how they are going to handle it. They need to terminate those players contracts. Their payroll is the 3rd highest behind Flamengo and Palmeiras. They will lose 50m+ in TV revenue playing Serie B. It's unsustainable. And they still face possible FIFA sanctions. They seem to be a candidate for not coming back right away.
The situation is really worrying. I believe that no big Brazilian club has been relegated with so many financial problems.
Came across this list this morning. Alguns salários (em CLT) do Cruzeiro 800k Fred 650k Fábio 500k Edilson 480k Thiago Neves 450k Cabral 432k Pedro Rocha 420k Dedé 390k Rodriguinho 350k Robinho 330k Dodô 320k Henrique 300k Léo 230k Egídio 210k David These numbers are only their salaries -- no image rights, bonuses, etc. Needless to say, they massively overpaid a bunch of aging players or players that aren't even difference makers in Brazil (Edilson, Pedro Rocha, Leo, etc.).
They have anticipated 2 years of TV rights assuming they'd be in Serie A. So that money, is already spent. They will have to repay it somehow. Earlier in the year they tried to get a 300m loan but no bank would lend it to them.
Their payroll was almost R$15m a month. Thiago Neves was getting 700k + 200k bonus for completing 40 games.
