Kind of a key player. But glad to see both RVP and Robben starting. I am pleasantly surprised.

Both teams fielding a lot of front line guys. A surprise in a lot of ways I suppose.

In 2010 Germany vs Uruguay was a really nice and entertaining game. 3:2 scoreline. Forlan nearly tied it up with a last minute free kick, that hit the crossbar. If the teams approach it the right way it can be a nice game. But I don't really expect this one to be. I think van Gaals statement reflects the stance of his players on the matter and Brazil will probably look to avoid an other high scoreline first and going for goal second. We'll see how it goes.

We could certainly use a Toninho Cerezo and Falcão just now.

Should be a free kick and a red card.

Brazil got away lucky. Losing Silva that early would have been much worse.

Wow! Silva lucky to still be on the pitch. RVP with a classic PK finish and I haven't even popped my first beer.

Two mistakes in one by the ref. Should have been a red card for Silva, shouldn't have been a penalty.

Actually if a foul carries on into the box refs are instructed to give the punishment that is more beneficial to the fouled party, if I remember correctly.

Maybe, but honestly, they're in a tough spot now, either play very conservative to prevent a blow out, or try to play a crowd pleasing game and risk a blow out. It's a fine line, even more so being down at the two minute mark.

At least this game answered the question if having Silva vs Germany would have made a big difference

    Well no
