The google translation makes this look like a done deal, but I'll wait for someone to confirm. 4.5 million Euros.

Or is this just fantasy stuff? I'm confused. Obviously.

Don't see it reported anywhere else. Can't imagine it's real. Yet.

Eh. Roma just played Chievo and Mikey had a good game. Chievo is a feeder club. Roma have American owners. Mikey is American. I'll put this down and just shoddy, opinion-style journalism until I hear a lot more about it.

Roma don't even know yet who the manager will be next season. I'd assume that decision will pre-date any major purchases.

In Italy the manager and director of football are sort of independent from each other. A few of the players on the roster Enrique had minimal input with. Obviously the DOF takes style into consideration but by in large he's buying players to fit a system and the next manager (if there is one) will have similar tactics. If it's AVB then it's pretty much status quo, same with Montella or Zeman. Spaletti is a bit different but he's adaptable. Capello is a different story, I don't think he's coming back but the targets would probably change if he does.

Regardless though I don't think a possible manager change would affect Sabatini's decision on Bradley, if he's a target. Whoever the manager is we need a player of his type. That's the last position I think would influence him because of a manager change, I can see him waiting to make a decision on fullbacks until he knew who was going to be the manager, but that's about it.

If you're curious my list would be....

    1. Spalletti
    2. AVB
    3. Capello
    4. Zeman
    5. Montella
In years past Capello would be #1, I just feel we'd have to change so much for it to work. Still I know from experience when you back Capello good things will happen. I think he's looking for an English job though to repair his reputation after managing the overrated bunch of divas on the England team.

I'm of the opinion though that Enrique should get another year. What club is 5 players away from being a complete team, 4 on the defensive end and doesn't drop points? I think signing a player like Mikey will immediately make us a better side. Part of the problem defensively is when De Rossi isn't playing there's nobody to knock players off the ball which gives top class forwards in Italy relatively free runs 1v1 on our CB. The goal Cavani scored was a perfect example of this. I think Kjaer is toilet but we're compounding the issue by not giving him any support.

This article even has a quote that's attributed to Bradley: "I'm coming to play alongside great champions like De Rossi and Pjanic."

Says he will cost €4.5M and earn €500K per season (with Roma midfielders Perotta and Viviani transferring to Chievo).

BTW - since this is still just a rumor (and I really question the validity of these quotes) I think this thread should be merged with the main 'Bradley at Chievo' thread.

Would be nice to see Roma put in a bid for Dempsey and Bradley and maybe Edu.

I like Bradley but I'll be upset if that's true. Kid is a true Roman and he has potential.

If we sold Perotta and loaned Cheivo Viviani that would be ideal. The other bit makes the story hard to believe though. We're giving Cheivo Perotta and Viviani and Bradley still will cost €4.5m? That doesn't sound right.

Well here's a (Google Translated) quote from his agent from just a couple days ago:

    http://www.calciomercatoweb.it/noti...rra-al-chievo-ma-se-una-big-chiama-il-chievo/

And an interview with Bradley himself (this one's harder to make heads or tails of through Google Translate so I'm guessing some of this is fairly off):

    http://www.forza-roma.com/48043/bradley-e-interessato-alla-roma-non-solo-perche-americano

I think there's also a quote in this last link from Chievo's sporting director saying that it's going to be very difficult to hold on to Bradley this summer:

    http://www.calciomercato.it/news/156017/Giovanni-Sartori-su-Bradley-e-Acerbi.html

[I didn't even attempt to reword that last sentence. Maybe some Italian speakers can give it a shot.]

Arsenal should take a look at Bradley. He doesn't rate ahead of Rosicky and Arteta but those two were absent a lot with injury and the next tier down has problems. Having said that, I think Michael feels comfortable staying in Italy with a club like Chievo or Roma after his experience in England and Germany. I'd hate to see Bradley sitting on the bench, especially at his age, with a club like Arsenal. A club he would thrive at in England is Fullham. If Dempsey stays at Fullham, they should add Bradley.

Haha okay let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Pretty sure the likes of rosicky, arteta, wilshire, song, and maybe benayoun if he stays would be ahead of him in the midfield spot.

No. He should be an automatic starter and we can bitch and debate about it in these new ridiculous forums.

And there we have it. Every off season needs a good Arsenal rumor going.

I already said Arteta and Rosicky rate ahead of him and, obviously, Song. My point is that Bradley would be right behind these 3 on the depth charts and that Arteta and Rosicky were absent a lot this year. Wilshire is out completely. Benayoun is used as a forward (in an attempt to get the goals that Gervinho can't score). The question you have to ask is whether or not Bradley is better than Aaron Ramsey.

Actually I hope he would not go to the Arsenal bench because I would rather see him playing 90' and a full slate of games each season at his age.

OTOH, one thing Aresenal have missed badly ever since Vieira left is a more physical presence in the middle. All of the above may be better technically, but apart from maybe Song, they're featherweights. I'd still rather he didn't go to Arsenal, though.

Hmm, the translation quotes president Delle Rocce: "Bradley is "a delicate superfine that will give us great satisfaction."
This isn't someone who parties wth Berlusconi, is it?

Well, before this thread becomes a haven for rampant Bradley speculation, I should say that I'm hesitant to merge it into the main thread. I'd suggest that a bona fide rumor (which would absolutely be fodder for discussion around here) probably wouldn't have the word "virtual" in its web address.
