4-3-1-2. I think he's a left box-to-box mid but I am only rarely checking in on this one. I'll watch the full match later on ESPN3. I think Bradley has a real chance to be a first team regular on this squad. Too bad they have no fan base to speak of. Hellas Verona will always be the big dogs there, no matter what division they play in.
Well, I guess #18 didn't wear him out entirely. If they did play a 4-3-1-2, that does leave a lot of space on the wings for the opponent.
Chievo's attackers seem to have experience attacking with minimal numbers late in a match. Bradley and the other 2 CMs didn't go up at all and they still kept the ball for quite awhile.
What he said - just terrible.... And then not bleeding the clock on forays forward...just unbelievable..
The outside player in the 3 ends up on the backline a lot. That's why Bradley's been wide on Zuniga a lot.
One thing you can give Bradley credit for today is that he was a lot tidier in possession then some of his other teammates.
Bradley had an up and down game. He struggled a bit to deal with Zuniga. But he had to deal with him on his own most of the time. Fortunately it didn't cost Chievo. Bradley's passing and care of the ball in possession was actually better than just about anybody on the field today, which is both a compliment and an indictment.
Why this extra time and why did the Chievo player shoot from 55 yards?? The thinking here is just brainless....
That Moscardelli only has one thing on his mind, doesn't he? And....Game over - 3 points for Chievo in Bradley's first 90. Decent performance from him. Ugly match overall.
keeper was off his line and it was actually fairly close (wide for sure... but i think it would have beaten the keep if it was on frame)
Solid 90 in MB's starting debut. He's surely quality enough to start for Chievo, based on first impressions. Not nearly as solid a squad as a fully healthy Gladbach. But I don't like him outside like that. Doesn't play to his strengths and exposes some of his weaknesses. Especially with such a poor right back behind him -- that guy was pretty horrid. Still, its 3 points, some solid touches, and no major errors. One in the bank.
Looking forward to watching the replay. Sounds like a 1/3 strength Napoli squad was a good first run-out with his new team. Since Michael's weakness tends to be disciplined positional defense maybe this having to recover to support the outside back is a blessing in disguise in terms of forcing him to develop that part of his game. Thanks to all you posters for the play-by-play and color.
Chievo Verona gets a lot of that every season and so, against all odds, they manage to stay up every season. They really are a great story even if they are one of the Italian clubs I really don't care for at all.
was going to say, in my few hours spent in the historical center of Verona, I didn't see one Chievo Verona flag/scarf/anything, all Hellas Verona stuff.
Bradley needs to work on showing for the ball. I know he likes to cover a lot of space and it is good. But too much aimless movement for my taste. Never going to be that great going forward. Just needs to keep the cogs moving in the midfield. He should have good practice covering for teammates on this team. I hope his coach does not expect him to play as a pure DM.
