I'm out of Johans as well--but I'm going to go ahead and assume he won't be hurting for rep anytime soon...

And that was my first reaction upon seeing the clip--it sounds like Bradley's English is inflected with a Dutch accent. Speaking English with Dutch people day in, day out, could subtlely change his pronunciation--but if he went back to the States for, say, a month or two, he'd go back to "normal."

That said, maybe I should change my screen name to Bradley'sAccent! ;)

W/out digressing into a citizenship debate, Earnie's first cap was in Dec. of 1990, so he was a citizen during that season (1990/1) if not before (at birth).

Read the post by usasoc again and then read your response and then think about why nobody believes you when you say you think Bradley's a good player.

This would all end if some people just raised their hands and said "I was wrong".

I did it about Tim Howard when he renewed his career at Everton.

It's OK to to admit you were wrong.People think better of you when you do.

Joe Zewe had 14 goals two seasons ago (in BL3). In any event, I believe Mkiey has set the top flight leage record, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see Rossi hold that record by the end of this season.

Mmm, has a ring to it. I bet if Bradley transferred to England now he'd score more goals in his 4 months than Ballack would have total for the year.

Our friend Will Johnson, from Canada, Chicago Fire, and last year's Heerenveen, played the first half for de Graafschap. (apparently he is on loan from Heerenveen)

The overlap is not a 100% clear, but his Wiki indicates he scored 29 in 90-91 and also became a citizen in '91. Close enough for me to count it as the US record.

My Dutch flatmate was going insane during this match. Wants to have Bradley's children. All of Friesland loves the guy.

Mikey continuing to play great in two way central midfield. Have now watched 33 consecutive veen' league matches and Bradley's play has been the most consistent over that time period of anyone.

    Mon the veen!

that 29 total looks to be for the 90-91 season and the 91-92 season combined.

i'm sure someone can dig up the individual season stats for Roy at QPR.

I agree that his fitness is very impressive. Combining that with his size, strength and understanding of the game makes for an impactful player.

If you grafted Dempsey's ability to make late runs and to finish with Pablo's physicality, I think you'd about have it.

Everyone is talking about his positioning sense on these goals...but some of them are showing damn fine technique, too.

Lloyd, as of March 28, 1991, Wegs "[was] still trying to secure United States citizenship." (New York Time, March 28, 1991, "SOCCER; A Confident Milutinovic Takes Over as U.S. Coach" by Filip Bondy, http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D0CE6DF1E3DF93BA15750C0A967958260&sec=&spon=&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink)

I cannot find the goal scorers for QPR 1990-91, but I did find this website of QPR results: http://www.verymetalnoise.com/cgi-bin/qpr.pl

If you look at 1990-91, QPR played 9 matches, all competitions, on or after March 28, 1991. As a team, they scored a total of 11 goals. Supposing that Wegerle obtained his citizenship immediately after that article was published, and supposing that had Wegerle scored all 11 goals for QPR, he still would only have scored 11 goals as an American in the English top division, which does not qualify him for the record.

(It's possible that the article's publication date of 3/28/91 didn't reflect the true status of Wegerle's citizenship, but the reporting date-- for Bora's unveiling as US coach-- was 3/27. QPR's previous game was 3/23 and was a scoreless draw.)

Meaning that the Lloyd Heilbrun Book of Soccer Records is a work of fiction. Sorry, Lloyd, but you're wrong.

i guess the question could also focus on how many Roy Wegerle scored for QPR in the 91-92 season.
