Harry Kane to roast Blind. Rooney to score a penalty. Johnstone to drop a cross for Erickson to score the winner. 1-3 loss.

Can't believe I am saying this, but is Evans actually worse than Blind? I thought he showed well during preseason.

Evans biggest problems were physical and then mental, never skill or ability. I think the injuries, constantly playing with them, eroded his confidence and belief. He's still better at all the things you need a defender to do (reading the game, tracking runs, distribution, tackling, clearing the ball whether with feet or head) than everyone else on our books.

If he returns to form is down to if he gets his head sorted out. I think given his place on the depth chart, he won't be playing injured or rushed back soon. If that gives him a small boost, then maybe a settled midfield will help him even more.

Of our CBs, outside of McNair, Evans is also the best at bringing the ball out of the back and advancing past midfielders. That isn't usually a thing you need, but given we'll use a double pivot and teams will sit back, it will be a nice trait to see once in a while. Even Smalling will get his chances to do it from time to time.

Regarding the match... god, I hope we don't see Blind and Jones at CB. If we are going to bench DDG then there isn't much point keeping him. We clearly aren't playing hardball to get him to sign a contract because if we were gonna play hardball the player to start with would have been AdM since we could have benched his ass with less consequence for an entire year. So if we don't want him to re-sign with us, what's the point of keeping him if we aren't going to play him?

The only hope I'm holding out is for a dominant midfield and I'm intrigued to see how the attackers will be deployed.

Oh. Darmian MOTM - you heard it hear first.

We will win 1-0 thanks to a OG. We'll have 55-60% possesion but create very few real chances. Spurs will have more clear cut ones thanks to hitting us hard on the break and exploiting Blind. But because they just played/are rusty we'll escape. LvG will come out and say we played well and that its a #process but all of us will piss and moan about how we played.

    Predictions:

Our linup will cause a small tremor around the globe as hundreds of millions of fans in the world facepalm.

Both teams will have very few real chances in the game.

LVG will revert to target man - long ball, in the last 15\20 mins.

There will be a calamitous error at the back that costs us a goal.

One of our players will dive for a penalty in desperation.

    The game will end 1-1.

Some fans will hail it as a good start to the season, and mention some sort of bad luck.

  22. Not just win.................crush them, wack them, obliterate them, shred them to pieces, make them feel as if they were hit by a runaway train and then caught by hurricane Katrina................so that when they regain consciousness again ...at the end of the season they find themselves relegated..........please

That would make me very happy

honestly, at this time i would settle for a half decent performance, scoreline be dammed as long as the philosphy is evident for all to see....

We will win, but only because Spurs preseason has them all gassed. Week 2 is when we'll be exposed.
