    Very shortsighted.
A 23 year old, German international, first team regular asking for 70k a week is hardly being held to ransom.
If we're going to pinch pennies, this is a bad precedent to set especially when we just offered improved terms and a 4 year extension to a 29 yr old.

70k for can is value for Money for what he is and can be (pardon the pun)....northern clubs tend to pay more given the surrounding and with Liverpool cl football not yet guaranteed, can should be signed up

I agree 70K/week doesn't sound outrageous, but the article says "more than twice his current wages" So 70K is probably less than they are asking for. If they are up north of 100K/week do we still feel the same?

That's right - according to the threads on rawk - 70K is not what they are seeking. We would be paying a lot for potential - because lets face it - he's inconsistent as can be. And his involvement in the german national team is as a fringe player - but that will certainly get him some play with the german teams if they come back in for him.

someone somewhere said right however - we can keep getting rid of players with our paper thin squad - we haven't shown the ability to recruit replacements and build depth.

I think we do have to keep him - unless he is insistent on unrealistic demands. Klopp's clearly a fan.

Klopp seems to believe in him longer term. My guess is the deal will get done.

LA Galaxy have told Zlatan Ibrahimovic they are prepared to make him the highest paid player in Major League Soccer history if he joins them from Manchester United this summer.

if that's true, I'll be amazed if he doesn't doesn't take it. Stevie got $6mill last year.

We really need to make the top 4.
    Once we do, players like
    Lacazette
    Williams/Lemar
    Dahoud/Goretzka
all become achievable targets for us.

Liverpool are eyeing the Jamie Vardy of Portugal – Porto striker Moussa Marega

Liverpool are basically being linked with every half-decent attacking player with pace and now the Daily Mail add the name of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, who has scored 14 Bundesliga goals this season.

Liverpool have also been impressed by his teammates Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg.

Indeed. The entire article read like a press release written by Can's agent.
Had no idea he was that young. Thought he was 25/26. Would be happy if we were linked with him.

What do you think about the reports that Brandt may be off to Bayern?

I think Goretzka is average for EPL. Dahoud is the real shit.

Brandt, Idk to be honest, but could be an agent smokescreen. But if true Brandt would be next in line to destroy his career by moving to Bayern to early.

Dunno if Tuchel is the right guy for them. Hasnt won a thing but the U19 championships with Mainz. Is a decent coach coming up like so many concept coaches in Buli in recent years. Has always had his tactics right. But I dunno if that is enough to make a difference to Wenger by winning titles and achieving more than eternal no.4. Tuchel is also comparably young and thin-skinned when it comes to criticism and outside of sports there is still the famous British press.

It would be a gamble. But what else can they do now to break the mold?

But last thing I heard was Wenger wants to stay anyway, no?

Perhaps they should go for Hoppenheims Julian Nagelsmann. 29 yo. State of the art coaching

You only have to look at the last flash young coach who managed a big club in Villas Boas. He was 33 when he took over Chelski- and lasted less than a year. It really isn't a place for those unprepared for what's involved.

Tuchel would also fare as unexperienced in that aspect and he's done better with Dortmund than Arsenal did in the last 2-3 years. Thats a risk you have to take.
