Mayweather Stops Fading McGregor In Round 10 - ESPN http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...weather-defeats-conor-mcgregor-tko-10th-round The most improbable fight, one between an all-time great in Floyd Mayweather and an opponent, Conor McGregor, making his professional boxing debut, ended in the most probable way. It ended with a dominant Mayweather stopping an outclassed McGregor by TKO in the 10th round of their massively hyped junior middleweight fight on Saturday night before 14,623 fans -- well under capacity -- at the T-Mobile Arena. McGregor tried to go after Mayweather in the opening round, but he looked uneasy, and Mayweather moved around to get a good look at him. McGregor landed a couple of shots and put his hands behind his back at one point in a slow-paced round. The slow pace continued in the 2nd round, but McGregor was moving forward and touching Mayweather, though referee Robert Byrd warned him for hitting behind the head. Mayweather finally started to get going in the 4th round as he began to land right hands against McGregor, who seemed to begin tiring; his mouth was hanging open. Mayweather also began to target McGregor's body. In the 6th round, Mayweather began to land hard head shots that pushed McGregor back. His face was beginning to show redness from the punches but the heavily pro-McGregor crowd was not deterred as they began to chant "Conor! Conor!" Mayweather landed a right hand in the 7th round that snapped McGregor's head straight back. He continued to land crisp punches, whereas the shots McGregor landed didn't appear to have much steam on them. McGregor went straight at Mayweather to open the 9th round and had to be pulled off his back by Byrd. But the rest of the round was all Mayweather, who laid punishment on him with an assortment of clean right hands, one of which swiveled McGregor's head. Later in the round, Mayweather landed brutal combinations against an exhausted McGregor, who showed enormous heart but was outclassed. In the 10th round, McGregor had nothing left. Mayweather landed a huge right hand that nearly knocked him down, and he then continued the assault, landing about a dozen unanswered punches. McGregor was barely on his feet, and Byrd jumped in and stopped the fight at 1 minute, 5 seconds. At the time of the stoppage, Mayweather led 89-82, 89-81 and 87-83 on the judges' scorecards. Mayweather finishes his career with a record of 50-0, 27 KOs.
Sorry, I did not read that whole thing. It was a good match, and the experienced boxer won...too bad. No embarrassment by Conor. The judges' score cards were way off, though.
Time to look forward to a bout that deserves the hype this last one had. 20 days until Canelo vs GGG.
I was discussing probable outcome of this fight with my colleague and for some reason I find myself leaning toward Canelo's win. Although at some point Canelo was schooled by Mayweather against GGG I honestly think he looks a better boxer. Deep down I will like to see GGG knocking him out cold but when I look back into some of GGG's fights I can't help but notice clear weakness in his defence, which imo could have long been exposed if he fought great fighters. At the top of my head I can think of his fight vs. Monroe and Murray. Both these fighters are more of journeymen in my books but I think they exposed GGG weakness. As things stands I think the only way for GGG to win will be via knockout, other than than clear decision for Canelo.
Joshua To Make Next Defense Against Pulev - ESPN http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...ake-next-defense-vs-kubrat-pulev-oct-28-wales
The fcuk should be banned for life. Canelo done well but GGG by 3-4 rounds. Insane workrate and he just walked forward through huge punches. Great fight
I am certain Canelo is embarrassed with the decision two. At best I think he won four rounds but I wasn't really surprised with the results. I mean if this guy managed to get 114-114 vs Mayweather where he was schooled from round 1 to 12 it makes sense that he'll get 118-110 when he gets pummelled from round 4 to 11. The worst thing is that this wasn't a very difficult fight to score imo. Contrary to other people I don't want to see rematch, nothing will change imo, unless if the fight takes place in Kazakhstan.
If a rematch happens then great, it's about the biggest fight in the game but he has nothing to prove to anyone. If he accepts a rematch then in a way it's accepting the decision. There is no score to settle in this one.
This is why I feel there is no need for rematch. Imo rematch should be for closely contested fights, and unfortunately this one wasn't. There is absolutely no way any objective judge could not see this fight as clear majority decision for GGG. It was the lopsided.

I respect Dr. Pacheco for being a physician (let alone Ali's physician) but I felt he was a terrible analyst during his time on NBC and Showtime. R.I.P.
