Looks like DiCicco is going for experience, but I wonder if age will be a disadvantage for them. It would be in the men's game, but perhaps less so in the women's???

    Lilly 37
    Maycon 31
    Hucles 30
    Mitts 30
    Smith 30
    Luckenbill 29
    Augustyniak Goffi 28

They already selected the draft order for January?

Provided they can sign most/all of these players, I'm liking this roster. It's definitely not a young bunch, and while age may be a long-term disadvantage, it may be good to have a lot of players on the field who know what it's like to play professionally at the highest level.

I was hoping she would get a chance. I really enjoyed watching her play for FC Indiana this past season.

The draft, to be conducted the week of Jan. 14, 2009, is a multi-round draft for players who participated in either the WPS West Coast Combine or the WPS East Coast Combine (which will include players who will have just completed their NCAA eligibility) as well as any other undrafted players who have applied to be drafted.

With the addition of the top collegiate seniors into the pool, this will give the Breakers the opportunity to add another Olympic gold medalist from the U.S. Women’s National Team onto the roster

There are 3 players from the Olympic Gold Medal team not currently assigned to a WPS team....

Lauren Cheney, Tobin Heath and Amy Rodriguez....

Lauren and Tobin are both juniors.....

    Amy is....The next Boston Breaker??

You can be sure the headline "A-Rod Signs with Boston" will generate some attention :)

Here's another shout for Amy Rodrigues assuming she wants to come. Think of the through balls coming up from Smith and Lilly for her.Thaat could be some good stuff.

Nice acquisition with Latham... I hadn't heard about that. Looks like we're building up a foreign attack and a domestic defense. Add A-Rod to that list and there will be some serious competition for starting forward (provided we sign these players, of course).

Any word on if any international players have signed on yet?

Just to clarify, Latham was named as a post-draft discovery player and her WPS-playing rights have been assigned to the Breakers. (see transactions: http://www.womensprosoccer.com/newsitem_ektid1088.aspx)

Nothing else to report regarding international players at this time.

    Thanks for the clarification Kevin...

Good to see you on BS...Hopefully we can build a good fan base for feedback for you guys on these boards as we get closer to April...

Next order of business is the college draft...I've already had the chance to talk with Andy about my thoughts on our first pick...

Amy is the obvious first pick...we were fortunate enough to win the lottery...I really hope we do the right thing and take her #1.

I might be crazy or just paranoid but I hope Amy doesn't somehow fall to LA...IMO, the league would lose all credibility if that were to happen. Even if they tried to make it look good by announcing some kind of trade between Boston and LA...

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the difference between Amy and #2 is just to great to pass up or make a deal...I'm sure Joe and Tony are on the same page but I hope the league doesn't make it happen!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see!:D

Look I like Lucky too but Emma Byrne is one of the most solid keepers in the world. I would be stunned if she wasn't the starter

    Speaking of Arsenal...

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/nov/17/womens-football

Five days after seeing his Arsenal team knocked out of the Uefa Cup by the Swedish side Umea, the manager, Vic Akers, could have another setback today as he awaits decisions from four of his players who are wanted by clubs in America's newly formed Women's Professional Soccer League.

"I told the players that they had until this Monday to let me know if they were going or staying," Akers said last night. "If they decide to go they'll have to leave for America in January and that doesn't give me much time to bring in replacements."

    Any word on Kelly's and/or Emma's decision??

I'll let Andy handle the salary question! :D
