Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Juve and Fiorentina played here against each other and drew just over 22k.....sales were boosted at the end by allowing people to buy Man U tickets a day early if they also bought Juve tix. Would more people have shown up if either of those teams had played TFC? I don't know.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Yeah...they played at the dome on turf. I think they could have twice that number if one of those teams played against TFC.....except that there is nowhere suitable to play the game other than BMO so you'd be stuck at 21000.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Jimmy, i hope you have an amazing time in Toronto buddy
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Just the three of us - me and my two daughters. Don't worry, the oldest makes enough noise to compensate I know a few who would like to come but airline prices are really high at the moment (I'm paying twice what one of my reps did a month ago). I'm lucky that I had enough airmiles to get the hotel for free.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Thanks very much mate. Yeah, one of my reps emigrated last year and she's loving Toronto. The football is a massive bonus as Toronto is a place I've always wanted to see
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Jimmy on Sunday you can catch the GO Train to Niagara Falls. Contact GO for times and prices.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Thanks Ernie. We are flying in on Monday and flying out on Saturday Going to Niagara one of the days and the kids want to do the Maid Of The Mist. Does the train run on other days??
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Actually, Via Rail is what you take to get to Niagara, the GO Train only goes as far as Hamilton. You should be able to get there every day of the week.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 GO experimented with Saturday and Sunday service to Niagara last summer. This year they continue the service but have added Friday night trips. http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/May2010/18/c4473.html
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Well then I should just bloody well start paying attention then shouldn't I?
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 personally i didn't go to that game for many reasons. juve bringing over mainly bench players, high cost of tickets, game played indoors on field turf. if the 2 teams played at bmo i would have tried to go. if either of those teams played the tfc at bmo it would be fantastic.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 That is great news for TFC and MLS. I think the common perception has always been that it would be easier to sell tickets to a match if it involved two top flight Euro teams than it is to sell tickets to a Euro team versus MLS team(s). Very good news.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 That's just me though. If it wasn't a WC year and those teams brought their full squads, the Rogers Centre could have very well been sold out.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Looks like we are bringing our 1st team squad over for the game with the reserves playing some friendlies at home. Made a couple of signings so far - Petrov (superb) and Robbie Blake (oops!) with rumours about Ilan (West Ham) and Diouf (Man U - not El Hadj Diouf) as well. So hopefully you'll see a decent BWFC team play. I certainly hope so Less than 3 weeks and counting. Can't wait to see you!! Bollox to England and the World Cup. Club 1st, Country 2nd
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Great to hear. See you at Maro assuming they open it up for us at the customary three hours before kick-off. http://www.maro.ca/ http://maps.google.ca/maps?oe=utf-8...ocal_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBUQnwIwAA
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Thanks for that Blizzard. Yeah, I might try there. Was going to go to The Brazen Head first so this place looks nearby. Is it easy to get to the stadium from here? Walkable?
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Yeah only about 5-10 minute walk to BMO from there.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Nice one. Thanks. Been on Google Street View but it was hard to work out how far away the stadium is. Your stadium looks superb. Just hope it doesn't rain
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 It's a good stadium. Sight lines are nice and for a North American stadium the seats are relatively close to the field. It's mostly steel and aluminum so it can tend to feel a bit cheaply made but who cares, it's ours .... and without it we'd be playing ..... nowhere as we wouldn't have a club.
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 It looks good. Who cares what it's made of. The Reebok is made of concrete and is nicknamed by other fans as The Breezeblock but we love it. Yeah, looking at the pictures it looks like we will be a lot closer than we are over here, so as I've said before, I can't wait. I'll try to be in Brazen Head from about 4.00, then I might nip over to Maro, and then one of the bars in the ground. If you see a bloke with 2 teenage daughters, all wearing BWFC shirts it's us. Come and say hello!!
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 PS Someone posted a message on the forum that I go on over here, boltonmad. Apparently, Caledon Council have proclaimed the 21st July as Bolton Wanderers Day. Never knew that there was a Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club in Ontario. I'll try to make trip up there whilst I'm over. Is it easy to get there from Toronto?
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Jimmy, Check out www.bwsc.ca for details about the club itself. As for travelling to Bolton, its North of the City, probably about 40 minutes drive from Downtown. Hope this helps somewhat
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 Thanks for that LFC. Will try to get up there at some point
Re: Bolton Wanderers to come to Toronto on July 21 At 4 a.m. on a Sunday! Kidding aside, my daily commute to Brampton takes 1 - 1.25 hours each way every day.....when we visit friends in Bolton, we take about 15 - 20 minutes....now you would save some time going direct to Bolton but unless you are travelling in way off peak times, 40 minutes is not that likely.
