When does the next season begin? And is it going to feature 30 teams again?

It's sort of a bad joke, really. If you thought it couldn't get more ridiculous than this season...well, it has.

It will be a short tournament of 30 teams, which will act as an interim tournament in order to adjust the calendar to the European calendar.

Teams will be divided into two groups of 15 each. They will play 16 games, 14 against the other teams in their group plus two against their traditional rival -or the one they are grouped with if there is no rivalry- which will be in the opposite group. (Boca would play riBer etc)

The teams that finish first in each group will play a final to determine the champion. And the team that has the worst percentage over the past three years will go down. (only one team).

Yeah, exactly. Why copy a bad system? The only thing missing is to have the top 8 teams in each group make the playoffs. :D

How is only one team going to go down? So there will be 29 teams in the primera for the 2016-17 season? Don't these idiots realize that having another "transition" tournament is just going to make it even more disastrous?

If you have 29 teams in primera, that means you can either have 56 game season of ida/vuelta (impossible) or you have only 28 game (29 with 2 against the classic rival) which of course is idiotic. Clubs already lost serious money by playing 8 less games under this 30 team format- including 4 at home which the small clubs especially rely so heaving on gate receipts- taking another game away is just shooting yourself in the foot.

Hopefully whoever wins the AFA elections stops worrying about politics and sends 10 teams down and we get back to 20 teams- maximum of 22- for the 2016-17 season there is really no other alternative. 20/22 teams 38 or 42 games home/away its simple. You know, the best and most successful leagues in the world do it this way, might not be a bad idea to follow their lead.

Actually it's 30 teams. One team will go down and one team will come up. I hope something changes, but that's the info we are getting from the dirigentes. Here it is from the mouth of your very own gayina chief:

    http://mundod.lavoz.com.ar/futbol/e...016-habra-un-solo-ascenso-desde-la-b-nacional

As far as what happens after the next tournament:

So, barring changes, if my math is right, it would be 2021 until we are back to 22 teams (and 2022 if they decide to make it 20). Brilliant, AFA!

BTW, next season first division will count with the addition of Atlético Tucumán and either Patronato de Entre Ríos or Santamarina de Tandil. That's the level of teams we get with this format. Although to be fair, the Tucumanos do have a bit of decent history in first division, so hopefully they won't be a total bust.

    Dear football friends,

I'm placing here a question and hope this is the right place to ask.
In Februar I'm visting with my Girl Friend Chile and Argentina.
Í'm arriving at 21.02 Buenos Aires.
A Dream of mine would be to vistit a match in the famous La Bombonera to see Boca Juniors.
I checked the match plan and saw that at this day there is a match against Newell's Old Boys.

I'm a fan of Kaiserslautern which is or was famous for it's atmosphere as well.
I really would apreciate any advice how to receive tickets and advice where in the stadium would be a good place for us.

My girl friend has colleagues from Daimler in Buenos Aires and all stated that it is difficult to buy some tickets some where.

    maybe you cen help us?

I really would apreciate any feedback regarding thiss.

    Greetings
    Dirk

So first pre season game was played against EMelec last night, ended Emelec 0 - 3 Boca, goals from Messidoro, Pavon (great team goal) and Carrizo.

Messidoro seems to be one of the juveniles bumped up to the senior squad for this pre season, so it's nice to see him score don't know too much about him so any info you guys can give would be appreciated.

    Highlights.
