"On a historic night for professional soccer in Orange County, the Los Angeles Blues showed a lot of promise in a 1-0 home defeat to the Mexican U-20 national team on Saturday. Didn't a PDL team beat this U20 team pretty bad a few months ago? 2 or 3 to zero? I heard the Blues didn't look good at all in this game. I predict a long season for them.
The Blues actually looked quite good. Our preseason hasn't started and we played a mix of signed players and trialists, and despite it all we really only allowed Mexico one clear-cut chance over the entire 90 minutes. Just a little unfortunate that they scored on it. The coaching staff was very happy with the match, and ESPN's Scott French actually agreed with them: http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/soccer/post/_/id/14822/l-a-blues-good-effort-in-el-tri-loss#more While a PDL team beating the Mexican U-20s seems highliy unlikely, you never really know in soccer. Could you provide a link to a match report perhaps?
