This should be the cautionary tale for rushing AOC back. Keep him to his original April time line.

coming back soon doesn't necessarily = rushing. original estimates of injury severity are very often conservative, a best guess really at that stage.

Virgil misses the first game v Bayern through suspension and now it's almost certain Gomez will not be ready either so at best we'll have Lovren/Matip at cb (and removes Joe from the rb equation too).

That's providing those two stay fit and neither has a great track record in the dept .

We've so close this season and there is so much on the line to play for and as good as we've been defensively I'm a bit worried that we're one more injury away from a serious def problem.

Trent , Robbo and Virgil better stay fit.

The Liverpool manager confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez will not be back from injury in time for Monday’s trip to West Ham, with the latter unlikely to return before the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich on 19 February. Klopp said: “I don’t think it would be a realistic target for Bayern. After that, any time, you will see.”

We're gonna have a central defense of Matip & Lovren (if we're lucky) vs Bayern.

That Gomez injury is a problem with Virgil being out. But Lovgren and Matip are both reasonably good defenders. We need Alisson to be on and alert in this game.

As long as we have proper full backs I’m ok - otherwise we start unbalancing the whole back line

Just to brighten everyone's day Dave Maddock just tweeted ,

Gomez facing surgery after injury setback...and facing another long spell on sidelines. Lovren injury worry too gives Klopp massive headache.

true. maybe I should say he doesn't seem to be a fast healer. Not much that can be done.

Note - Lovren's is a tight hamstring - not a long term issue.

Until the Bayern game, play vvd and matip. Let lovren rest his hamstring.

Gomez’ injury is a major blow. He was as good as any player in the squad before getting hurt. He has missed at least 10 games due to injury in every season of his professional career.

He's had two major injuries , a torn acl and now a broken leg . Both pretty serious stuff for any player let alone one so young. He's been very unlucky.

it must be pure coincidence, but it's weird that almost all of our long term injuries are to English players .... Ox, Gomez, Lallana, Hendo (Trent also but not long term in his case).

Joe Gomez to have surgery today to repair his broken leg; he expects to play again this season but it is a demoralising setback for the defender. Could be 6 week absence.- Dominic King

This is what I meant earlier even though it was a contact injury, Gomez seems to have delays in coming back from his injuries in general same thing happened with the ACL injury good took longer than expected.
