Today's a must win against a decent team. Schalke lost and the 4 teams behind us will split the points between them this matchday.

    Bürki
    LP Sokratis Toprak Schmelzer
    Sahin Dahoud
    Pulisic Reus Philipp
    Batshuayi

Bench: Weidenfeller, Toljan, Weigl, Götze, Yarmolenko, Sancho, Gomez

This is Sahin's first start after his disastrous showing against Freiburg that got him out of the team for quite some time. I'm not a fan of using 3 wingers but we'll see. Very few defensive options on the bench. If we lose one of our CBs, we have a problem.

Peter Stöger cannot coach for shit. This squad has been regressing steadily under him.

Lucky but nice goal by Pulisic for the lead. Not a good game otherwise.

Halftime, 1:0 for us. Two good scenes after the goal but it's kind of scary to think that this Stuttgart played quite comfortably against us. This shouldn't the level that is challenging us.

2:0 Bats, actually assisted by Sahin. Bats with his usual backheel pass for the set up to get Sahin in that good position.

3:0 in the end but the result isn't telling the whole story. We had a very bad start into the game and got lucky with a misplaced cross that somehow found its way into the goal. Every goal increased the team's confidence.
There were some nice attacks and one touch pass combinations that showed that this team can play nice football. But this season, the dominance and confidence against most teams isn't there and we have to be happy with good results. Schalke got many "dirty" wins as well when they didn't play well. In my opinion, they shouldn't be second. We should finish the season ahead of them and I wouldn't be surprised if Leipzig passed them as well.

Important 3 points today. We weren't impressive at all, but managed to get the job done. That lucky break in the first half got us going, but it is worrying that we continue to rely so heavily on luck, in order to start playing even remotely close to previous seasons.

Stoeger is doing what he was brought in to to do. He has stabilised the club from Bosz's terrible reign and he looks like he will make top 4, but he is clearly out of his depth at Dortmund. We play terrible football and just grind out results.

We need just 3 more wins to make top 4 and then we can give the new manager the money to rebuild.
